Thanks for the video! One question: During my last site calibration, I accidentally hit “No” when prompted to “Save the Base Point as a Control Point with coordinates/elevation”, because my Data Collector started lagging and I started tapping too quickly before the screen could refresh. Is there a way to go back and save the Base Post as a Control Point, or will I need to run the entire site calibration again? Thanks.

You don’t have to do the whole site calibration again, but since you said no it just means there is no control point created where your base is set up. Your base will continue to remember that spot until you move it somewhere else and then bring it back. If auto base is on it will remember, but with auto base off you will have to tell it that it’s in that location again and that’s where it will be a problem. You can simply put your up on a tripod over one of the control points you used from the calibration and then tell it it there, then put your rover receiver on the base pole that it was on and measure it as a control point to create that point, then move the base back to that spot and tell it’s there. Either way, not all is lost.

If the point you want to have as a control point is stored in your data collector, If you are using a TSC7 or even an earlier model, do the following: Go to "key in point", key the point number you want to have as a control point, in the lower right hand side of the screen there will be a checkbox "Contol Point", check it then either "overwrite point" or "store as another" option. But, in order to have a good coordinates you need be sure you were using the base on continual measurement and then check and make sure you have all the appropriate data. The data collector doesn't know the difference if you have your site set up properly.

Question, when would you select "measure to APC?" I have notice in our 750 it states APC, but it is on a pole as you have shown. Could this cause an issue?

Where is this you are saying it asks for APC. I am just not understanding when you are seeing this and for what need. If it is a brand new job site you can just set the base as unknown position and the vertical height as 0 and it will create a control point for the pole when the calibration is done.

Great video! You mention a project close by your location that is a Kennecott Project. What project and where are you at in Salt Lake City? I worked for Kennecott Ridgeway GOLD Mine in SC for 12 years.

@@iksoruk this video was taken at the cat wheeler facility in west valley. So kennecott is just south west about 20 minutes. I just did this in the wheeler back yard.

I have a question…lets say my site got bigger and throughout the project I added more control points throughout the site. Is there a way to continue a site cal or add to the site cal? Is there a video i can find that will show me how to add points to the site cal? Thank you.

You cannot add to the original site calibration you do for a site. Once it’s finished it’s done. You can add new control points from the current job site you have and do a new site calibration , but you don’t want to recalibrate after a lot of work has been done already because that work may not match. If you’re job site did not get too much bigger than the original one, you may still be ok to do that work even if it is outside the current job site boundary.

I'm not entirely sure what software the author is using, though it is a TSC7, but to answer your question, yes you can add calibration points if you are using trimble access. Simply go into the measure screen, in the pulldown menu on the right side of the screen go to "calibration points" measure the point and add as many points to your calibration as you like, horizonta & vertical, horizontal only, vertical only. If this is some type of machine control watered down software package then your probably out of luck. I add control points to my calibration on larger projects all the time when needed.
