I've spent almost 12 years of my life choosing and teaching my apprentices, and for now I can state I've prepared only few, since, the path of an apprentice is a path of overcome. Hence, the only purpose for an apprentice is to prevail one's master. I wish you who reads this to find such an apprentice that'll prevail yourself; may the Dark Side guide you, and may your enemy's head fall on the floor without you taking a scratch.

O, you who would be a Master of the Sith, heed all that has been spoken herein, but especially be mindful of this, and be not heedless -- the one whom you would choose to become your apprentice, your pupil, your ally and your servant, that one shall also be your chiefest rival and enemy, and shall one day betray and destroy you. This must be both condemned and encouraged, for as treachery is in the end the way of the Sith, this is the greatest wisdom. Teach your apprentice to hate you and to need you in equal measure. Teach the way to learn through hatred and suffering, but also through need. Measure your apprentice at every turn, punish their betrayal not for the betrayal itself, but for not being strong enough or ready, or prepared enough yet to challenge you. More importantly, punish any thought of not betraying you, for indeed your apprentice must challenge and destroy you, but only at the peak of both your strength and theirs, when the day shall come that the apprentice knows truly that they have learned all you have to teach them, all that you know and more, and that finally they no longer need you. On that day shall come the greatest test, a final test that You Alone must proctor. On that day, you, O Master, shall die. For a strong master to be defeated by a weaker apprentice is a great shame, and it weakens the Dark Side.

one of the reasons im a fan of the tor era sith is unlike the ro2 for example sith masters viewed their apprentices as as described here their legacy so they did their best to teach and train them fully where the ro2 most masters thought they would be the ones to uncover the secret to immortality and so often viewed apprentices as more their chief assistant who might one day try to kill them so they always would hold back on teaching them fully where the majority of tor sith weren't so obsession with the search for personal immortality so they viewed their students with greater importance nor did they have rules where the apprentice must always kill their master to succeed them ether so felt safer teaching them all their secrets as well often them retaining their relationship till one died for other reasons or forming something closer to a partnership after the apprentice had acquired a degree of mastery
@mrpowers3649
@mrpowers3649 17 сағат бұрын
Darth Bane never intended on that. Few RO2 Sith attempted to end it and become the one immortal dark lord... And that folly lead to the end of Sith order. (Plagueus and Sidious) If operating as intended the RO2 was to last forever. Even when the Sith conquered the galaxy the emperor was supposed to be killed by his apprentice. This would lead to a revolving door of emperors but each apprentice would bring new ideas and a fresh perspective when they took power. This would ensure the new sith empire would continually evolve and grow stronger much like the Sith Lords. Under the RO2 the Sith would grow stronger or more cunning with each successive generation so it is the best paradigm under which the Sith operate and when it was abandoned it destroyed the Sith once and for all.

@@mrpowers3649 even bane chose to break the ro2 by trying to use essence transfer on his apprentice even after she followed his teachings and defeated him as was his original intent
@mrpowers3649
@mrpowers3649 17 сағат бұрын
@@dragonlord498 I mean if a master doesn't use every available weapon to slay the challenging apprentice is the apprentice worthy of being called the dark lord? So I consider it Bane's last desperate attempt to win that fight not him trying to cheat the RO2. If the master wins the apprentice was never worthy in the first place and if the apprentice wins the master has finally found a true successor. Under the RO2 only the stronger or more cunning of the two would progress. So under the RO2 each generation of Sith would only grow in power...This is why it is the best paradigm under which the Sith can possibly operate.
@dragonlord498
@dragonlord498 17 сағат бұрын
@@mrpowers3649 the results though speak different while it does make sense for a master to take only 1 true apprentice at a time and many older sith did do that the outcome of the ro2 resulted in them only reining for a couple decades before they were completely eliminated. the original sith on the other hand had civilizations that were very successful that lasted thousands of years
@mrpowers3649
@mrpowers3649 16 сағат бұрын
@@dragonlord498 Yes but without a common enemy those civilizations were prone to factionalism and infighting that would weaken them. It's why so many times just before total victory the Sith would turn on one another. Which lead to their defeat time and again by the Jedi and Republic. So yes those civilizations lasted a long time but only in the presence of a common enemy. The Galactic Empire ruled unchallenged for 30 years which is longer than any Sith Empire had without a common enemy. Infighting and betrayal is the nature of the Sith. The difference is that under the old Sith order these qualities would weaken the Sith while under the RO2 it would strengthen the Sith. The reason the RO2 order failed is because they strayed from the RO2. Sidious didn't train Darth Vader to become his new apprentice. When Vader was crippled Sidious decided to abandon the RO2 and would work to become the immortal dark lord... It was the same folly that killed his master before him. Had he properly trained Vader or sought a new apprentice he would have been succeeded by someone and his empire would have continued after him. Vader was a slave and Vader worked out his mastery of the dark side on his own. The abandoning of the RO2 by Darth Plagueus and Darth Sidious is what lead to the failure of the Sith and The Empire.
