the definition of freedom is an understated important subject which society has forgotten how to talk about

I view the jedi and sith as one philosophy split into 2 parts. You must have self-control to keep yourself in check so you can follow your passion to enjoy life. You can have power to protect yourself but must ensure you don't harm others. Sometimes peace is a lie and power is needed to gain true peace and other times power is needed to protect peace as a last resort.

This is basically the same concept when it comes to religion. All of these religions split into different things but at the end of the day, they are the same.

We don't have to deliberately go beyond Star Wars to take this seriously. I believe that subconsciously everyone takes Star Wars seriously, because they know that Star Wars, or other art based on serious topics that are of serious importance ideas are serious. I think everyone, at least on a subconscious level, realizes this and they appreciate this, and this is the reason why some projects turn out to be profitable, while others that are flat and devoid of depth and purpose sink. At least in most cases it is. Other times a project remains underappreciated if it was too far ahead of its time and remained misunderstood by the public during the time that project was created and therefore that project has to wait for its time to come. A third reason is if this project covers a topic that is of little or no interest to most viewers, then this project receives support, or no support, from a very small number of people. This is also a reason for a project to remain in the shadows. And in all seriousness, we really have to give our respects to the Hellraiser Cenobites. I think that this soul went through Hell and she experienced Hell is extremely strong. In the same way as a person who has tried everything in life is very well prepared because he has gathered vital experience from his life. Another question is whether a person can pass Hell. And also what is left of that person's consciousness after they have experienced Hell. People who have gone through many life trials are often destroyed. Star Wars is based on Eastern martial teachings and Buddhism practices on the one hand (Jedi) against ordinary human behavior on the other hand (Sit). Can we not assume that neither is a solution and that a solution is the middle way? You take a little of one, you take a little of the other, while at the same time you try to free yourself also in the same time helping others, punishing the bad, realizing that you are also half good and half bad? More or less, this is how I see myself.

Sith Code is actually pretty wise. The reason why Sith is evil is not because their philosophy is bad, but because they interpret it wrong. Person who never fights will always lose. The difference between good and evil is that evil has no code at all, there is no philosophy of evil. Evil person is the person who interprets wise and good thing through the prism of his a55.

@@GeekyStoics Palpatine actually speaking truthfully is not evil as he may seem, Palpatine is actually honest at least with himself, Palpatine wants power and ready to sacrifice everything for it. The point here Palpatine shouldn't be considered human being, he may be portrayed as devil himself, but not human. The difference between human being and devil is that human being is way more bounded than devil in the sense that human being needs love, needs passion, needs community, needs postive emotions, needs to share his life with someone. Negative emotions, hatred, loneliness are extremely incomprehendible for any human being, no human being can live long in such conditions. In that sense devil has no boundaries, devil doesn't need postive emotions, doesn't need compassion, doesn't need to be loved, doesn't need to share his life with someone, so for devil it is way easier to live in hatred, in negative emotions, in loneliness as if it was his sweet home. Devil in that sense is ideal Sith, but thing is Devil was created by God, so Devil must not be considered evil. Throughtout whole series of Star Wars Palpatine never felt any type of struggle in evil, he never sacrificied anything for his power and never felt pain of such sacrifice - this is absolutely impossible for any real human, but it also makes him honest with himself, Palpatine chooses to be evil, chooses power over relationships, and so he is powerful, while Anakin was human being, but fallen, even fallen Anakin continued to struggle and feel extreme pain, Anakin compared to Palpatine wanted everything - both power and relationships, but thing is Anakin wasn't honest with himself, he tried to convince firslty himself that he needs power to defend his people, but because this was lie, he paid for this delusion very big price . Darth Vader can be considered evil, because he interpreted everything wrong and so he fell. And also Palpatine gave chance Anakin to be free from dark side, but Anakin chose to become sith volunteraly, in that sense Palpatine was honest with him. This is the difference between evil Anakin and not evil Palpatine

from my perspective, both views are foolish. "deny all wanting and be free from the entire world" "take everything by force, your wants and desires are paramount chase them" real freedom is the ability to choose what you do/don't want and get rid of what you can't handle/don't need. real story, i picked up smoking for a bit to see how it would feel, liked it, but knew it would harm me and cost so much money, so i put it down for my own good, and never touched it again. i enjoy pleasures but don't let them control me. and i do not deny them out of fear. a bit of drink, but do not crave drunkenness. people are so weak willed and afraid they fall to their desires, or hide from them like nuns that will be murdered for indulging. i can choose, i chose to smoke a bit for a week or two and LOVED it, but put it down and to date i have not touched it since. choose, choose yes/no choose this/that. choose risk/reward. slave to holiness. slave to desires both are the same yet inverted. the middle ground where you can go left, or right, and then return without harming yourself is where true freedom lies. those who are weak willed fall to addiction those who are stupid and afraid deny all of the world out of fear of becoming bad people. both ways are wrong

I stand by the Sith , the sith codes & the sith way of thinking IF I HAD TO PICK BETWEEN THEM OR THE JEDI ORDER UNDER YODA’S LEADERSHIP 👈🏾. Nobody , nothing & no one else is holding me back from doing what has to be done within reason. You must embrace your whole self , all of your power & all of who you are in order to maximise your potential to succeed in your life whether it be on a small or large scale ✅. (Ultimately I wouldn’t tread on any force path I would prefer to go Bounty hunter but if I had no choice to pick it’s straight Sith living for me 😆👏🏾.)

Interesting that you bring up epictetus's experiences as a slave, I like the take that Wisecrack had of likening the Jedi and Sith code's to nietzsche's idea of "master morality" that power over others is good, and meekness is bad and "slave morality" the opposite kind that, that we see in our modern world.

Dude, you think, but you don't think enough. :) The problem is that the more you run and you deprive yourself of problems, the less you learn by overcoming. Jedi replace all necessities of life with intense Jedi training. They are monks. Jedi are Buddhists. Simply, if you want to be Jedi, go to Tibet or take another place of solitude or contemplation. Why did you decide that the Jedi value is applicable and real in our world, but the Sith are fictional? Jedi are Buddhists. Sith are gangsters. Both sides are completely real in our world and at the same time they are here in each of us: a good side and a bad side. Sacrifice and selfishness. Etc. Also you might be a hypocrite. :) Because you sound like you might want to be a Jedi, but a Jedi by force, because you think the Sith don't exist in real life and therefore you cannot be a Sith. But if they were real you would be a Sith. Am I right? You sound every bit a Jedi by compulsion, but a Sith at heart. Basically you are saying: Jedi are real, their values are the only option for our real world. While the Sith are unreal! Why? Is selfishness and lack of concern for others unrealistic for our world? Any gangster or unscrupulous, any serial killer could be a Sith. Yes, these are people who don't care.

That's why I became a libertarian in a philosophical stance... the human nature is freedom. Humanity's worst enemy is the establishment of the State... we have been taught to believe it's necessary... but what people forget is that... in the majority of cases it is not Jedi like type of people becoming politicians... it's the Sith like. That being said, of course freedom goes a long way beyond physical, political freedom... but it starts there... as long as we keep forsaking our own freedom to the hands of a central planning hungry machine, we will never truly be free.

If this interpretation is correct then Star Wars is highly deceptive, with many false dichotomies. I'd rather think of life as virtues run contrary to vices. The goal of the virtues is love, joy, and peace. The goal of vices is power through hatred according to arrogant pride. Virtues are righteous passions of love, joy, and peace for those who are deserving, and trustworthy at heart. Vices are the extreme immoral passions for conquest, ownership, and destruction of all things virtue for the power to control, and rule everything desired through authoritarian control. Virtues are to set free. Vices are to control. One is true love, the other is vanity and hatred without cause. On top of that there is the issue of mercy, and redemption. I'd prefer Star Wars to draw truer lines of justice on both the positive side, and the contrary negative side. To be without passions of any kind is robotic self denial. I think the reality is life has contrary passions and they don't mix. One side offers true freedom, the other offers freedom, but only deceives and tempts. One side is for others, the other is heartless toward others. One side keeps good company, the other only enjoys heartless company for the sake of rule.
