A nice drive around Sitiawan town in Perak, Malaysia. Sitiawan or also called Setiawan is located at the western coast of Perak. The development of the town had been rapid in the 1990s with one of the main reasons was the establishment of the Royal Malaysian Navy's Naval Base in Lumut, approximately 10 km from the town centre. Also the town centre derives some economic advantages from its close proximity to Pangkor Island which is a famous niche tourist destination.

Kalau orang2 tua sekitar sini yg dah berumur 60-70 tahun sekarang ni, mereka sebut pekan Sitiawan ni sebagai 'Simpang Empat' (tak sebut Sitiawan pun). Masa tu pekan kecil yang popular sekitar Daerah Dindings (Daerah Manjung) ni ialah Simpang Empat, Kampung Kop (Kampung Koh) dan Lumut serta juga Ayo Tawo (Air Tawar), Pante Remih (Pantai Remis) dan juga Berueh (Beruas). 😄😄

I miss Sitiawan! My 3 friends and I cycled from Ipoh to Lumut in 1984 and we stopped at my grandparents house at Kg Selamat for breakfast. Great memories. Sadly the house is no longer there making way for the heady pace of development.
