You took the words right out of my mouth. I was about to say that. Calling México the US' "backyard" has always been code for saying it is a place ripe for exploitation by US interests. For Mexicans out there thinking this man is in some way complimenting your country, he's not. What he is saying is that your country is a good place to make money. He has no real interest in Mexico or its people. This is plainly evident in his disparaging of AMLO. When he says AMLO heard but didn't listen he meant to say, AMLO put the Mexican people ahead of policies that would have made him and his investors a lot of money.

Visited Guadalajara recently. It's been wildly modernized in the last 10-15 years. Lots of new high rises and luxury shopping centers. Puerta de Hierro would not be out of place in Beverly Hills. That place is pristine and has every top brand (LV, Gucci, Prada, etc). You also have a lot of American restaurants and stores available. The main thing you'd miss moving there would be Prime 2 day shipping

He partnered with a local Mexico City Developer, with plenty of experience and more important, plenty of government connections, which helps a lot. Not quite sure if their real estate assets are doing that great, especially their retail assets. They've been getting part of their financing through Mexican pension funds, and from what I've seen in other markets outside Mexico City, I am really not that impressed with how they manage their whole operation. Case in point. They are finishing a large mixed-use project in Tijuana, and looks as though they are ready to open, but there are no major tenants signed up for their retail center, and they are betting for a very upscale market segment that may not be the best bet. I hope they are successful though.

He says AMLO is not a good listener, but he is the one transforming México into this great country of foreign investment. Nearshoring, he made it a reality with all his great projects, for example:Tren Interoceanico, Tren Maya. International airports without asking for international loans. Creating Masive areas of industrial parks, keeping the economy stable, and traying to pay Mexico's international debt. Keeping the Mexican peso earning territory vs. the dollar. So, if you think he is not a good listener, it is because he has a mind of his own, nationalist, and he believed in Mexico. Now you are investing in México because of the certainty he has given to all. We all are gonna keep eyes on Claudia Shembaun. She better keep the 4th. Transformation way of politics in place. Everyone is watching her. NO MENTIR, ROBAR, NO TRAICIONAR AL PUEBLO DE MÉXICO. Y por el bien de todos primero los POBRES.
