I ride with multiple guys who ride more sitting down then standing up. Safety risks aside (I agree with you), these guys have amazing control and I've yet to hear about a cracked shell. The common element with all the riders is that they are not big guys. So I think much of what you say applies to guys like yourself, me, etc. but not to many others.

I have had mine for just over a week now. I’ve been working on a “seat” that really is more about having a handle in the front. Much like a Sherman, I would be more confident having that handle to grab. And also with the weeble wobbles, feel safer to be able to grab something if you are forced to bail and don’t want to see you wheel go flying.

Ian you should try out the Chaoyang tire for the 16X. 2 month ago i changed my CX tire for the CST which is on the Nikola, because i didn’t like the gyro feeling of the CX. The CST was already much better, but last week i changed to the chaoyang and what a difference much more nimble and so easy to carve, no more gyro feeling even at high speeds.

Good balanced review as usual! Not doing the really long distances that some riders do - like yourself - I've never had the need for a seat. They SEEM, even without you having re-enforced my opinion, like they'd be a bit dangerous, but hey, if people like them, great. Good that the 16X has such a well-made one at least!

is there mods to make bike-like handle so it looks more like one-wheel bike? handle might make it less awkward on street and more control. perhaps theres foot extension so that our legs not locked , can be straighten up to point.

Hey Ian, quick question, I just got myself a KS16X and although I really like this wheel there is one thing I find most annoying about is the clickety sound that the trolley handle makes every time I go over the tiniest bump. Have you experienced it as well? And what have you done about it? Other than putting a seat on top, which I would assume solves the problem

I have heard this as well, you can adjust the tension of this via a screw at the bottom of the trolley struts inside the unit. If that fails you can just use a little foam to create a bumper at the top.

Speedy Feet UK If the seat had small indented bit each side to accommodate the knee it would not only make it more comfortable it would enable you to lock on to the wheel more securely. For even more comfort they could flair it out like a plush bike saddle behind the knee. I’ll be in touch in a few months once Ive sold a kidney, as I’ve fallen in lust with the S18.
