In the opening statement, it states that this is "written and read by Simon Brett". However, in the description, you state that this is narrated by Geoffrey Howard. Could you please clarify this for me?

It's a very different listening experience that's for sure. I discovered the Charles Paris stories from the radio 4 series. Bill Nighy makes him a far more sympathetic "lovable rogue" character but having listened to a few of the books, hearing more about his habits and character, you realise what a selfish, immature person he is and how his wife would be far better off if she were to divorce him and move on! I have to say also, that I'd rather someone other than Brett were to read the audiobooks. His attempt at different voices, and *accents* especially, is awful! Another thing you realise from reading the books is how repetitive a writer Brett is. Every single character he describes has blue eyes, I don't know anyone or ever met anyone with blue eyes, it's quite rare but everyone in his fiction has them. He uses the same phrases and quotes more than once and the books do become quite "samey" after a while. All the more reason to have them read by skilled actors who can bring them to life rather than Brett himself. I suppose saminess is inevitable when you're as prolific a writer as Brett. He churns them out at a fair rate doesn't he! 💸 💰💸💰💸💰Ker-ching 😂

@@ellie698you need to live in my family. Out of a total of 8 people, I'm the only one who doesn't have blue eyes.

He should stick to writing, there are much better narrators.
@katiedotson704Ай бұрын
The writer of this narrative is Simon Brett. The narrator is Geoffrey Howard. "Geoffrey Howard - Penguin Random House Geoffrey Howard was a stage actor and an award-winning narrator. He recorded more than 100 audiobooks in his lifetime, and won Audie, AudioFile magazine's Earphones, and Library Journal awards for his narrations. He died in 2014." Perhaps you should get your facts straight before you comment.

@@aimslygirl I did miss that. However, in the description it states that it is read by Geoffrey Howard. I posted to the channel creator for a clarification.
@aimslygirlАй бұрын
@@katiedotson704 I've listened to all 20 books and this, is in fact Simon Brett. Simon Prebble has also read them, just depends on which the creator posts. At first I preferred Prebble, hence my initial comment but Brett has since grown on me.
