This video makes me very nostalgic for the early to mid 70's. I'm sounding like an old man but it did seem like things were more simple and easy then.

Let's not forget the best ride of all- the parking lot tram! I also miss those grass areas in the parking lot for picnics. And, the train robbery that used to happen! Come on Six Flags you had such great content in the 70's and 80's, why did you let it all fall apart in the 90's??

Wish the log ride and river king mine train still dueled.

This is awesome. I just spent the whole day yesterday there, and my favorite part is walking around and seeing the remnants of the park as it originally was. I'd give my kidney or something that I don't use often but that also sounds important to jump back in time and see all of this in person.

I was born in 72 and went probably once a year.. it was so much different, cleaner, and nicer back then.. it was magical... it lost all that after the mid 80's.

6 Flags. st. Louis will have 50 seasons in 2021 or 2022 and it would be cool if 6 Flags had their employees wear the uniforms from 1971 and possibly honor the employees, my grandma worked there when it first opened and she was one of the 1st people to ride the parachute ride when it first opened up in st. Louis. it's a fun ride and would be cool if they put in some of the old rides, like the skyway and the parachutes again.

found this old comment.... I love that they actually did that! Had the employees in throw back attire, was awesome!

The proliferation of more and more roller coaster rides at this and almost every other amusement park has certainly made attending these places less and less fun for me. I don't mind them, but we're now in a race to have the biggest, tallest, fastest, deadliest, etc., etc., etc. First attended Six Flags Over Mid-American in the summer of 1971 and recently lived in Valencia, Calif. (the home of Six Flags Magic Mountain). My favorite from SFMA was the Mississippi Adventure and Injun' Joe's Cave rides. Probably pretty boring to most people, but I like them.
@ImAlwaysHere19 жыл бұрын
+Greg Eichelberger I grew up on this park and, while I love roller coasters, I wish they would have left this park well enough alone thirty five years ago. I can still see some of the good old days when I go there and it is comforting and sad at the same time.
@jamesbarnett24832 жыл бұрын
Mississippi Adventure was great and I loved it as a kid

I agree, we have too many roller coasters already, they need to be more creative about new rides.

We had seasons passes, dropped off like it was a daycamp, from 7 years old on up. We even took our skateboards out there, the little yellow free formers..

Not to be overlooked but the train shown in this video is not the Tommy G. Its engine #5 that’s actually at Busch Gardens now in Tampa. I think it’s cool they showed it running at Six Flags in the video.

@ No not the go-carts. Super Sports Cars was an original attraction and it was where batman and the joker swinging ship are now. Super Sports Cars was basically like the antique cars where you drive them while they are on a railed track.

Oh i have another question. Why did the park shut down and quit running the Hannabarrels/ Powderkegs? Hope i'm not bugging you.
@mustang04647 жыл бұрын
I have read that the Hannabarrels were removed due high maintenance costs and also to make way for new attractions.

Six Flags St.Louis is turning 50 in just a few months. During their anniversary celebration, I sure hope that they include some tributes or even some acknowledgments to Injun Joe's Cave and The Time Tunnel. I would to find some more info on the 2 as the internet does not have a whole lot.

Jetscream was fun. There was something about it. It was simple, but thrilling all at the same time.

Jason Jones they packed it up and sent to to Six Flags Astroworld, named it Viper and painted a dragon (not a viper as the name would suggest) on the tunnel they added. As a very little kid I used to love standing there staring at it while it completed its circuit. By the time I was tall enough to ride it, it was long gone and Astroworld was right behind it!
