Six friends surfing SUMBA - Indonesia SURF TRIP

This is the journey of six surfing friends. In 2019, five of us were living in Nusa lembongan, Indonesia, at the same time. The daily surf around Bali and it’s adjacent islands is always fun, but we just felt like it was time for a surf trip that will bring us back to the roots and the spiritual nature of surfing and traveling. So, Maria, Jeff, Jake, Franky and Jellyfish jumped on a plane in Bali, while Max was gonna meet us in Sumba, After spending some years in Africa. Even though Sumba is just a one hour flight from Bali, it was like stepping into a time capsule which took us 30 years back.
We arrived In the early afternoon and were determined to surf the same day. We didn’t do any research besides looking at Sumba on google earth. A few hours drive to the closes ocean side with possible waves. As soon as we had our car sorted we hit the rocky road and an adventure of It’s own kind was telling Itself……
Amazingly welcoming locals, stunning landscapes, pristine nature, amazing waves, sketchy boat trips on nutshells, sleepless sweaty nights with no electricity, the same pancakes everyday, unlimited coconuts, way too many farts, infected feet, shallow reefs, crashing motorbikes, a big birthday party of a 2 year old we never met, crocodile rivers, white beaches, tropical storms, “the peak”, Buffalo Bill, a captain with his mouth and hands full of cookies, long walks in the burning sun and never ending laughs and smiles.
A lifetime full of memories that made us grow even closer together.
Thanks Franky for shooting all the beautiful footage and creating this movie. (It was worth waiting almost 3 years for it 😄)
