I was one of those kids that hated things like that and as an adult I still don't like it. Every time I get my blood drawn or in the past got a shot I watched. The nurses try to tell me not to but I tell them no it's better if I watch. It's worse if I don't see it coming.

I had an awesome pediatrician in Hong Kong for my kids who was much like this wonderful man. Regardless of what the reason for the visit, they always were excited whenever they got to go see their doctor, who they thought was just their friend. Usually nurses give the shot but you can absolutely do this yourself. I certainly do. My baby is 7 months and she had 3 shots. She acted about the same as this baby because I did pretty much the same thing (I also had a flashing toy that she loves).
