Great video! You guys are a real family going through the same things as other real families. Don’t lose that. Keep being real. Great content and appreciate you giving the facts and not shaming people for thinking one way or another!

This is a great video because we live in New Tampa right now but eventually my husband and I would like to be closer to the coast but honestly the hurricanes have made me nervous now to do so!

It is definitely something to consider when making that decision.

Great video Juan! Thanks for being so informative! Love the channel. I’m in south Alabama by Gulf Shores, I love it here just being anywhere in the Gulf is beautiful. And maybe I will consider moving to Tampa in the near future. But I know who to call if I make that move!

Great video. I think you nailed the Tampa experience. I've been here for three years now and I always say that Tampa is like if you plopped Pittsburgh into Florida. It has big city amenities, with friendly small town vibes. We have professional baseball, football and hockey, a nice airport, culture and great places to eat. But nothing about the city feels chaotic or stressful. It maintains a comfortable, mid-western pace.

Thank you for a very honest assessment of living in Tampa. I've lived in Tampa for 5 years so far, and I'm not thrilled with the heavy traffic and the hurricanes, but I can also see there's a lot to like about Tampa. I'd have to advise people to not buy a property in the flood zones, because the flooding is likely to get worse as time goes on.

Sorry to hear about your story there are so many similar to yours. Here is mine, bought a stilted home 2.5yrs ago in Suwannee the nature coast. I have now been through 4 hurricanes, I have very minor damage because my house is raised. It will take me approx 2k to get back to where I was. Would I do it again move to the Nature coast . Hell ya. You cant trade sunshine for 300 days for a couple months of hell. My heart goes out to my neighbors whom homes were on the ground, now they are gone. Most people uninsured. The town is rebuilding there are very few I have to go listings. There is alot of money being spent. You cant replace coastal property and the wildlife, its amazing. I love it.

This is the first season in 6 years that I am not going south for the winter. I'm glad it's working out for you but I cannot imagine living in Florida year round. Just not for me all that water bugs and humidity but if it works for you that's fantastic... oh I might mention that I left the above comment before even listening to your video. So basically you're talking hurricane issues and you're lucky it only happened once in 6 years. I briefly started looking at houses around Saint Petersburg city. Specifically the Northeast section such as Shore acres. And I cannot believe how often those streets flood even with high tide and onshore breezes.... these people are getting water in their houses. Which means ripping up the floor and the bottom 3-4 feet of drywall and cupboards and Etc and I see people doing it time after time and now many people are giving up because you're leaving your house for like 6 months at a time while it's being all torn out and put back in only to see it happen again next year. Some people don't wake up they just go through that over and over. And the rest are saying I'm out !!! they finally wake up and get the heck out. the house I was going to buy for $500,000 just this past may flooded in less than 6 months and that was the third time in that year... I can only imagine buying house and have it flooded when the realtor no doubt said this was a great time to buy because the house was really model from the last hurricane months before I did a KZbin search on Shore Acres and year after year after year you can go back 10-15 years and it's the same story every year and yet people still live there I cannot get a handle on that.... videos of all the town board meetings and news reports how they're doing something to make it better to stop the flooding backflow preventers and then a new designer backflow preventers this past summer etcetera etcetera etcetera that area in particular is a lost cause... oh I might also add that I owned a home in Fort Myers Beach was able to live in it for 4 months that Following season after purchasing at only to have hurricane IAN TAKE IT OUT !. My whole Community was under 8 ft of water! My house was 4 ft off the ground and still had four feet of water in it.. I honestly was amazing myself that I was even thinking, thinking mind you,of buying again in Florida the very next season.... so glad I was smart enough not to fall for all the realtors....plural, telling me Shore Acres was such a bargain right now it's such a bargain...no conscience

Juan, you do a great job in telling the Tampa story both pros and cons. . That’s why these doom and gloom You-tubers with these 75% real estate price cut style headings get clicks and make money because they know people want to feel good about themselves by hearing negativity and bitching and complaining Haters, gonna hate no matter where they live

Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I have been talking about moving to Florida for a while. We have been vacationing in several locations to narrow down our search. As recent empty nesters we have been getting antsy to make the move, but the recent hurricanes definitely made us pause a bit… just wondering how well we would deal with that as we get older. We are spending Christmas in Indian Rocks Beach and have fallen in love with your home beach! We are not looking forward to going back home to the St. Louis area!

I've been through so many tropical storms and close by hurricanes that I'm so prepared. My wife is much younger than me and she always gets scared. She's from Buffalo New York. A fish out of water down here. I always tell her, don't worry, I got this, and I have always taken care of business. I have a 25 year old son. My son gets my mindset. Buy property about 50 feet above sea level and you'll be fine.

These is a limit as to what you will put up with. Apparently the hurricane season is not going to get easier. Up here in the NorthEast, we are raising our houses. Are you considering this? or perhaps move to an area that is not the lowest point in the area?

I moved down here with my girl and 2 kids 3 years old and a newborn lived on the poconos pa for 28 years came down here no job just an apartment that we never even seen. We visited the area few times in past 3 years visited apartments when we went down but the one we ended up settling on we didn’t see any visit so we moved down no job 2 kids a newborn. I ended up get a job 10 minutes from our place I door dash everyday I wake up around 4am door dash till about 4 then go to work at 6 then repeat I’m off every Saturday and Sunday and if I want to relax I don’t door dash. I have energy to play with kids I come home from work with energy. Yea every state has flaws but this was the best decision for me only wish my family would move down too lol

Well I was born in Clearwater, 67 years ago. I never, ever thought about moving. I love it here. I've always had a boat and know this gulf coastal waters like the back of my hand. I love it here. I hope many people leave here. They moved down here from up north and ruined this place.
