I am minister in the Church of Sweden and I am a Christian, but it doesn´t stop me from loving this song and the joy it brings. We share so many parts of the holy stories. If we all just saw the things that connect people instead of the differencies between us, the world would be so much happier...Like Chanukka, every day.

I too am a Christian also and I'm confused by Helene's statement. Why would anything Hebrew stop you? You should be rejoicing that you found this song. I find your comment small minded and ignorant. It reads as if your TRYING to convince yourself or others "hey look at me, I'm not a raciest, I like a jewish song" ruh roh... I feel a rant coming on... better

I remember watching this back in 8th grade at my middle school in my Pre-Algebra class one day as we were getting closer to the holiday season (since the teacher of that class was Jewish; I won't give away the name of neither the teacher nor the school). Even though I'm not Jewish, I respect them and their traditions and I really liked this song. Well done, guys!

This is just brilliant! We shared it on our LIVE! daily news show MHTV so all of our middle schoolers could enjoy it and have it stuck in their heads all day. You're welcome! Gwyneth Jones - The Daring Librarian

I am a very proud practicing Jew, Chanukah is my favourite celebration and holiday we get to partake of, light the Menorah, 'everyone' wants to light the Menorah, even if it's one candle, the latkes and yes tons of sour cream please....or homemade apple sauce if you prefer, I like both but would not enjoy a latke without the white stuff.....yummmmmmm. No one makes latkes like me, okay it's my Mom's original recipe, I must carry on the tradition, sadly I am the last one in my family who does....These guys as always per their 'norm' are beyond genius, beyond brilliant, they are fun, full of great lyrics and great skits/videos.....love them; they add the best touch to Chanukah. Happy third candle to all, third night, Happy Chanukah to all.🙏🙏❤🙏🙏 Best part, the dreidel's letters: The Hebrew letters inscribed on a dreidel are a Nun, Gimel, Hey or Chai, and Shin. The letters form an acronym for the Hebrew saying Nes Gadol Hayah Sham, which can be translated to "a great miracle happened there," referring to the miracle which Chanukah is centered around. Now here's my dilemma, I thought the proper translation was: 'A great miracle happened then' not there? Help anyone please and thank you. Chag Sameach!!!🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

Love the joy you are sharing! (Why do some observant people think that religion must be sober and judgmental?) In these days of increasing darkness, celebrating the light (Dedication) has even greater importance. When they said, “Let’s go to the house of God,” my heart leaped for joy. To give thanks to the name of God- this is what it means to be Israel. For the sake of my family and friends, I say it again: live in peace! For the sake of the house of our God, GOD, I’ll do my very best for you.

Just for your information (for people who doesn't know), I know it was a long time ago but I just have discovered them, in israel, we use a "Pey" instead of "Shin" because Shin is the first letter of 'Sham' which means there, but it happened here so we use a "Pey" which is the first letter of 'Po' which means here. The more you know :)
@screamtoasigh99846 жыл бұрын
That's a great piece of info, I would have never thought about that. (I know about Po, but not that the letters are different). Couldn't they have used a kaph for Kan?
@clairebennett78315 жыл бұрын
I heard that too.
@estherschrager18464 жыл бұрын
Also, it's nes gadol haya PO (here) rather than "sham" (there) :) Chag sameach!
