Courtside Comparisons is presented by NerdWallet and hosted by 76ers Insiders Lauren Rosen or Matt Murphy. Courtside Comparisons is a series of long form KZbin conversations with 76ers players and coaches, including Tyrese Maxey. In each interview, we’ll ask our player or coach to share their in-depth thoughts on individual and team performance, draw comparisons to performances throughout the season, and reflect on previous and upcoming matchups against opposing teams. Each conversation concludes with fun comparative questions, where fans get to learn their favorite players/coaches preferences off the court.

I remember his tearful comment the night he was drafted, when he promised Philly that we wouldn’t regret drafting him. LOL. Got that right, bruh. 💯

I don’t think people doubt him as much as it just isn’t fair for us as fans to keep expecting such huge leaps and bounds EVERY season. Also, all of the topics were things he did struggle with at one point. Compare him to Embiid who grows his bag every year and tries to find new ways to deal with double teams but he doesn’t just show up to each year with the skill perfected. We expect effort and modest growth. Maxey brings exceptional growth and effort. I can’t wait to see him get paid and be a lifelong Sixer.

You cant be a day one talking like that. You sound like you recently noticed Maxey. We knew he was special since 1/9/21 vs denver nuggets he dropped 39pts WITH NO FREETHROWS. Do you understand how rare that is. As a rookie at that in his 1st start. Maxey has always exceeded expectations. He just wasnt allowed to display it due to injury & doc catering to harden wanting to dribble the ball 18secs per possession.

The way his personality kind of dries out when he speaks on himself, shows the humility in him. Those who are humble don’t really like bragging on themselves. Even when it’s deserved.

I think the thing that says more than anything else in this interview comes when Tyrese is breaking down his pass to Milt. Talk about perspective and being a leader by raising the whole- not only is he making a material assessment of the floor, but he also has a mind to the value of lifting up up your team mate by creating a great look for them. That kind of leadership says “you have my confidence, bro” and gives the team 3band Milton a shot in the arm. Saying that’s the play he’s proudest of is aspirational. Btw ppl in here are giving sis a hard time- chill. Interview was fine, she clearly demonstrates intimate knowledge of the team and the game that I respect. We’re here for information, somewhat- the tone and nature of it is different than an interview from terry gross or something. She did what she had to do and was professional. Highly doubt anyone complaining could do a better job

People don't doubt Tyrese. That's a complete mischaracterization! What's unbelievable is the leap Tyrese made from year to year because it's a higher improvement than any other player that comes to mind. Meaning, Tyrese is loved and respected, he's not disrespected.

People sleep on maxey, springer, d melt, bball paul they all play defense and can score. And d melt is definitely a shooter. Sixers whole team can shoot though. Maxey is definitely one of the quickest guards in the league that can score with the best of them while sharing the ball with the leagues leading scorer. His ast are up and every season he keeps getting better. Sixers can win it even if they dont land another piece this year. They have chemistry on and off the court and they have already seen defeat throgh buzzard beaters and not closing when they have the chance. Its time to get over the hump. Joel still playing like the mvp on his way to his 3rd straight year lleading the league in scoring. Maybe back to back mvp!

Terrible question to start the conversation. Tyrese exceeded all expectations, the team survived the storm thanks to this man, he really saved the Sixers from a rebuild. Who the hell questioning him? If there are some bums why does their opinion matter?

it was def an awkward start. it could have been an intro instead of a series of questions. i think a lot of people have always seen his potential and have been tracking his growth for a while. the doubt is there but it isn't the fabric of his brand or career like some other players. he has so many people buying in and believing in him. the biggest shock seems to be him being drafted @ 21 but even that has an interesting backstory.
