Ok, this comment could end up being a bit long. I know for sure it wasn't just a coincidence that I came accross your channel. We managed to save a small amount during the lockdown and I haven't been able to label it but it's like you mentioned, a buffer. Also, I've been doing the one month ahead wrong, putting some money into the extra money then borrowing from it. The open jar/closed jar analogy really helps. I am also binge watching your grocery/pantry quarantine series and financial videos. Thanks for the inspirations 😊

I watched this video a year or so ago and came back to it for renewed inspiration. I really like your channel and have learned from it. My husband and I use YNAB and love it. We are still working on our month ahead fund, but have learned to celebrate each baby step. Thanks for the great information.

Amazing video, thank you!! I can’t believe I only fully understand the concept of « getting a month ahead » only now that I’ve watched your video! It seems easy to understand but after all the videos I’ve watched on the subject, yours is the first one that truly opens my eyes on what it actually means and how to make it happen. Thanks a million! ✅ 👍 From a very proud to be YNABer :)

Thanks for the video! I think I must have missed something. The part of saving this month’s paycheck for next month... doesn’t that put you a month behind on your bills? Thanks for clarifying this! Thanks!

Hi Olivia! You get to the point where you have saved an extra month's worth of income. Let's say you do that now, then when August starts you use that saved income for all of August's bills. In the meantime you save all of August's income and don't use it until September. You never skip a month of paying bills, you just get to a place where you use last month's income for this month's expenses. The challenge is to save up a month's worth of income (while still meeting your current obligations). If you go to 11:06 I share some ideas for saving up that extra buffer of income so you can start being a month ahead of your expenses.

@@peggymartin5355 It's free for 34 days, but then there is a charge if you want to keep using it. You can decide if it's worth it. For us it definitely is.

Does anybody know how to solve this. I am paying my CC bills in march but they are due in April ( I am paying ahead). When I make transactions I put date as march. When I go to April I notice money technically is still ready to be taken out but it already has been. Also under activity it doesn't show up (I assume because its a different month prior). SO is the ONLY fix to put those transactions for april 1 when april 1 arrives? Any advice please share. Thank you.
