Made in now twice and my wife loves it. I buy chicken when it's on sale and weigh it, cut into pieces and put it into individual sandwich bags then into a freezer bag a take out one at a time makes it so much faster.

Bryan, I am not a fan of cooking personally.. But I am a big fan of wanting something tasty but easy to make.. One reason why I love my crock pot. For Christmas I gifted myself an instant pot and will make my first meal in it tonight. I am hoping to get my husband into cooking in the IP as well. Wish me luck lol

Your now five year old son is going to love what I'm going to teach you right now. Mac & Cheese. 1 lb. elbow macaroni 1 quart chicken broth teaspoon of each: salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder. All that, in the pot, stir, set for high pressure for 4 minutes. When the 4 minutes is done, quick release of the pressure, and stir in 1 tablespoon of butter, and 3/4 cup heavy cream. Then stir in up to 4 cups of any cheese of your choice. WARNING: It's going to be gooey.

When my husband was alive we use to make this often on the stovetop but we used broccoli instead of the veggies, added a diced green pepper and used cream of mushroom soup. Was always a fav. Since I am alone now I make half a recipe and end up having lots left over to freeze. Thanks for the IP version. Will try it.

I have another quick and easy recipe for you.. 10 min prep time 20 minutes Cook time... Parmesan crusted chicken.. preheat oven to 400° then get a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.. You get thin sliced chicken cutlets or chicken tenderloins and you place them directly onto the parchment lined cookie sheet and make sure each slice of chicken is touching ones another line them up on your cookie sheet then you need a cup of mayo and 1 packet of the dry Italian dressing mix (or 6 tablespoons of Italian dressing like wishbone) and a 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese then mix it up good then your going to spread it evenly to coat all the chicken on your cookie sheet.. once your done get a cup of any breadcrumbs of your choice and add a 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese and mix that together then your going to sprinkle it evenly on top of the chicken.. I like to press down on it so it sticks to the mayo mixture better.. This is optional but you can add a very thin layer of shredded cheddar on top.. Put it in your preheat 400° oven and cook for 20 minutes or until golden brown and serve with your favorite sides.. So quick and easy and kids and adults love it 😊

Success! This recipe is the maiden voyage for my new Instant Pot. Some other comments on here had me worried about getting a Burn notice, so I added more water than the recipe calls for and otherwise followed the written recipe, adding the soup and shredded cheese at the end. I threw in a half a block of cream cheese at the end for good measure. Came out great, no burn notice. Thanks Sisters! (:

Made this for lunch today for the first time. Definitely a winner. Since my husband used the last of the minced garlic and didn't tell me, grrr, I used 2 cups of garlic broth and 1 cup chicken broth. But also used a tsp of garlic powder. It was hard to know how much liquid to use since this video tells differently than the recipe. And wondered why you would use plain water and not chicken or garlic broth. So I figured it would be better to use a little more than not enough. Its a keeper!!!

My favorite recipe is an old family recipe. It is called " Porcupine meat balls" ! It has gone through a few changes but it still is great in the insta pot/ pressure cooker. You make your favorite meatloaf recipe with ground beef or ground turkey. But instead of oatmeal or breadcrumbs as your filler you add your favorite raw rice. ( DO NOT USE INSTANT OR QUICK RICE) ABOUT A 1 1/2 CUP OF RAW RICE. Into meatloaf mix. Then make tight meatballs about the size of a golf balls. Once they are all in here's another option... if using tomato base use 2 family size cans of plain tomato soup. Or you can throw some sliced mushrooms and 2 family size cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup. Then about Half a can of water from your soup can. Now cooking can be done low and slow with crockpot setting for 5hr on hi or 7 hrs on low. OR If your wanting to cook quick high pressure cook for about 12 to 15 mins.( depending on how thick your meatballs are.) Now just add your favorite veggies as a side dish and enjoy! If there is leftovers they dont last long afterwards.

I am new to Insta Pot cooking and this is a great recipe. I only had 1 chicken breast so it was nice to have a recipe that can be easily adjusted. I didn't add the frozen veggies but that didn't make any difference with the water I added. Hubby loved it so it'll be added to our regular meal rotation.
@heidihardin45735 жыл бұрын
Those of you having issues with the burn notice, try making the recipe as directed on their website. Basically, adding the cream of chicken, cheese, and veggies at the end. The issue here is in them adding the cream of chicken before the pressure cooking. This makes the liquid too thick and then you get the burn notice. You might be able to get away with adding the veggies but I would for sure leave out the soup and cheese until after pressure cooking like the recipe says. This is why it was written this way to begin with, I am sure. That being said, this happened to me and I ruined it the first time with the burn notice. Followed written recipe the second time and... it is delicious! No isssues! 🙌🏻🥰

I recently found out why uying the block cheese &shredding it yourself melts better. I started Keto dieting and learned that already shredded cheese is higher in carbs. Reason is the waxy preservative that is on each piece vs the block is only on the outside edge. I now buy the block cheese for all of my recipes and shred it myself. I love your channel. I think this recipe would be awesome with broccoli in place of mixed vegetables. Fond memories of "broccoli, cheese, chicken, and rice casserole" from years gone by have me salivating. Agree the block of freshly shredded cheese melts better; it's because preshredded cheese has a coating to prevent sticking before purchase. One question: I have always cooked perfectly fluffy rice using a 1 cup rice to 2 cups liquid ratio. Why do these recipes always use much less liquid, even when cooked alone? I find it yields a dry end product. Thanks!

Personal recommendation for chicken, season raw, thawed chicken with salt and pepper on both sides, then a personal seasoning for extra flavor (I love chili power but also ranch power or any other dry seasoning you like) and allow it to sit for 15+ minutes. (25 tops if you want) it dramatically improves the flavor

I just got an Instant Pot Viva and decided to use this recipe as my first ever to get over my fear of pressure cooking and Instant Pots. I have to say this was a perfect video and it came out great. Slightly liquidy then shown here but I added a lot more cheese to sorta absorb it. I might have to adjust time as some of the rice stuck to the bottom too. I did not add the onions as I am not a fan of them but it was great. All and all very happy with this recipe as my first one and my hubby loved it too, and he is very picky.
@jomama81ranch8 Жыл бұрын
Saute your onion in oil FIRST so that it's caramelized, before adding the chicken. Add garlic just before adding your liquid, otherwise it burns. Once you add the garlic, the minute you begin to smell it... usually 30 seconds or less, ADD your liquid to capture the garlic flavor and smell, otherwise you will lose it and your kitchen will smell.... not your dish! It is the scent that helps add the flavor you want... ask any professional chef!

I found the recipe to be easy. I have digestive issues and know from the American Cancer Society, not to use corn or peas, even canned. They can be very hard on you after eating them. I substituted sliced carrots, green beans and cut wax beans instead, rinsed and no liquid from the cans. Quite good with too much starch from rice it was very thick. I will experiment today. I should of rinsed the rice to remove some of the starch. I just need to thin it out keeping the flavor You have helped me love my 6&8 quart Duo Crisp pots thank you.

If you follow the recipe as shown in this video you will absolutely get a burn warning, the written version is the one to follow

Hi Kate, I followed the video instructions right into a train wreck. "BURN" messages, actually did burn on the bottom, and took several hours! No "dad's a hero" with this one. Oh well, back to the drawing board. R, Steve

I also got the dreaded BURN warning. Tried adding more liquid but that didn’t help... now trying to salvage it by cooking on my stovetop- smells delicious! I’m thinking this doesn’t work with minute rice which is what I used. Only thought of that after the fact!

I have been scared of the saute because of the "burn". This was my first attempt at saute after using it for a year I got the burn. I have always heated the IP on saute and cooked the meat in a pan. I was so disappointed. But I have made a lot of other things you have posted and thank you for that. I tell others about you!

One thing I like about your recipes is that you are fine with using preprocessed foods, or frozen veggies. I also watch Food Wishes a lot (which is an awesome channel!) but Chef John always says things like "if you don't shred your own cheese, we can't be friends." He is probably right but I'm not a gourmet cook by any means. I mostly eat fast-food every day. When I use the Instant Pot, it is cutting edge for me. Besides, I'm a single guy. If I make something as good as IHOP, I consider it a major success! I'm going to try to make this recipe this week if I can get to the grocery store. Thanks Sisters!

Hi there! Love your channel! I just wanted to point out that the printable directions are different than the video directions. I’m making this tonight from the written recipe and the instructions are different. I’d go by the video directions. Just a heads up in case anyone else tries it. ☺️❤️

I love throwing a roast in there and cooking it for either to serve with potatoes or to make beef and dumplings. That is probably my most used food in the instapot right now.

It melts better if you shred your own because the preshreded stuff has stuff in it to keep it from sticking together!!!
@papajaystinkershop755 жыл бұрын
You guys do know that pre-shredded cheese is coated with cellulose (wood/plant fiber) to keep it from clumping. That is why the block cheese that you shred yourself melts faster and is creamy. In this dish, I would use a Colby Jack cheese.
@PamperedChefConsultant5 жыл бұрын
jwsgadget1 Cellulose doesn’t necessarily come from wood. It can come from any plant.

She wasn't measuring the broth. It's a 4 cup container. I think it looked like she put closer to 3/4 of the box--3 cups. Plus the half cup of water. Sure looked good enough to eat,though.

I do this with browned pork chops, milk, rice, cheddar cheese, mushroom soup and then I add frozen broccoli at the end and leave it on warm for a few minutes to heat the broccoli up. Yummy stuff.

You can’t put in the cream of chicken soup until the very end after everything else is cooked. It makes the sauce too thick and it burns

I make a dish similar to this using brown rice. I cook everything except the mixed vegetables first for 17 to 20 minutes. I do a manual release of pressure and then mix in the frozen mixed vegetables and leave on keep warm for about 5 to10 minutes before serving. If you put the vegetables in during the pressure cycle they become too soft and well done. This leaves them with some texture.
