I have a friend who is still a virgin at 41. She’s aching for a relationship, but life has not been kind to her, despite being the most brilliant woman I know. She’s not only smart (graduated college with like a 4.1 in Electrical Engineering!) she’s also a creative person who is a playwright and director. There are incredible people out there who just haven’t had the chance with someone they are comfortable with. But I bet Skippy would turn her down because she’s not “hot”. She’s had a really hard time finding her place and path in life and naturally I can’t know everything in her head, but I don’t think she’s got crazy high expectations. She’s very casually dated someone she met through church, but I’m really not sure what is preventing her from moving into something more serious. I’m worried that men find out she’s so inexperienced and run, and I’m also worried she’s so in her head about her inexperience that it comes off as intimidating or too much work or pressure for any potential date. Her parents are overbearing and I think that’s a problem too. We’re trying to get her to move here, where she can be away from her family’s influence. That I think would be a good step. Beyond that I don’t know how to help, and I desperately wish I could. I know I’d be in my head about it if I were in her place. She’s been wanting love and partnership for so long. But my second cousin didn’t find someone until she was SIXTY-TWO and actually had a fairytale wedding as if they were in their 20s! So I know it CAN happen even if you have to go through many years and missteps.

I can understand Skippy's pain and the suffering he feels, but at the same time he is deluded into thinking that he's worth more than he is and that's holding him back tremendously. At some point you have to reevaluate, and you might have to (especially as a guy) come to terms with the fact that you just might not be worth what you're looking for. It's harsh, I know. I felt that pain too and I empathize, but I grew out of the wanting "a thicc goth gf" fantasy when I was in my early 20s. I'm not worth that. I'm not up there in that tier and Skippy isn't either. He's just taking much MUCH longer to realize it.

Relationship is completely random lottery which is hardly affected by any other factor than buying more lottery tickets. And most important relationship is pain in the ass in the first place and you do it not as a goal but rather a side effect of something else and it happens against your will. Because person with whom you will get along most likely will be horrible , totally not what you want and you will be forced to make compromises but you stay together because of some reason.

@@deltaxcd In my opinion, this is one of the biggest problems ALL people have, and it is certainly visible on dating apps (and social media in general) because people are showing only a sliver of themselves that they think will attract who they want. This can be "successful" but it depends on what your definition of success is! Is success getting a date, getting laid or getting a meaningful relationship? Someone who has a major disconnect between how they see themselves and how others see them will most likely not be as successful with more than just a casual, one night thing.

i left a comment on one of the older skippy vids about how you really don't need a relationship to be happy. still think that. ironically the best way I've found to get into a relationship is to stop caring about getting into a relationship and just focus on yourself. if skippy got a job, got some hobbies besides creeping on women, and got his own place and maybe even some therapy he might be doing better in the dating scene. but he should do it for himself rather than for someone else. just have something going for yourself and everything will follow. i used to be so obsessed with being in a relationship and based all my value off that, and i wasn't able to get into a relationship until i started caring for myself above everything and realized i deserve love from myself more than anybody else. people can feel that energy

Kind of seems like he's attracting what he's putting out into the world, and I always feel like there's some self-hatred going on with him finding people who have some similar features to him ugly.
