As somebody that's just got their CBT some of those SMIDSY's were absolutely shocking and concerning. Subscribed.

Yep, all scary stuff, keep your wits about you and I would definitely suggest you pursue further motorcycle training to help you. Best of luck!

Wow! Those were some close calls. Got my adrenaline going at 2:35-2:45. That was a hard one to predict. Subbed from Motovlog, keep up the good vlogs and stay safe out there! : )

Hi new subscriber, living in wales its very rarely i have encountered many of the the situations you have showed, but never take for granted while riding, always scanning, only takes once ! Not sure i would be able to ride in london to be truly honest, cheers for highlighting with good commentary .

Yep, London riding is very different to elsewhere, but it prepares you for pretty much anything. Actually, when out of town you do have to remind yourself to switch out of the London riding mentality, drivers just are expecting the sort of filtering that is par for the course in the city.

Got most of those. A couple surprised me. Though I might have been moving slower to begin with on some of those...

Agreed, my riding isn't the most exemplary in all cases there. This 'best of' does span many year past, including when I was still most definitely a beginner biker and times before I undertook any advanced training. Hopefully, it still got you thinking about your own ride and what you'd do differently nonetheless. Ride safe!

6:53 I definitely didn't see coming, if anything I would have thought the grey car would have moved due to their position in the lane, whereas that black car was far to the right (and I would have guessed it would have been the red bike facing them!) 8:29 also shocked me with the lady just walking into the road, didn't even try to look behind her! If it were the wrong direction of a one way or there was something in the pavement I would get it, but damn she didn't choose life that day huh...

Can I have a link to the air horn you have. gotta get me one of those.

On my latest bike, it's a Denali Soundbomb horn. Here is my review and installation guide from my blog: www.beginnerbiker.com/2019/12/denali-soundbomb-air-horn-review-install-yamaha-fazer/ I have the split version to best fit my bike, but they have a few variations to choose from to suit different bikes. I highly recommend it, saved my bacon many a time when riding in the city. Even out of town it can be great to forewarn any cars creeping out of a side road. FWIW SportsBikeShop currently has them discounted here: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/341273#/538,0,0

You react very quickly with the horn . Go you ride with your thumb permanently on the horn button ?
@Beginnerbiker
@Beginnerbiker 2 жыл бұрын
Nah, I try to avoid covering any of the controls, it's too easy to grab them on impulse, which is never good for brakes... I must just have quick reactions to get the horn so fast, obviously comes from having to use it so often on a London commute. FYI the horn in early vids was a Stebal Nautilus and in later vids a Denali Soundbomb. Both very similar TBH. You can check out my video review and fitting plan for the Denali here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpvVdGycl8-lqbs

Yeah that last one at 7:02 was a proper brown pants moment, looking back at the footage, I can't believe just how close I was from being taken out big time. I was actually worried they were going to swerve the other way into the other biker. Thanks for the sub!

Hehehe! It's not that bad TBH, it's only the worst bits I'm showing you here. Yes, it's busy, yes you need your wits about you, but it can be great riding past all the sights. It certainly prepares you for riding in any city anywhere. Well, maybe not those Far Eastern cities with swarms of scooters everywhere!
