Idk about irl, but my screen the raspberry top is EVERYTHING on you. The shoulders are super in style and I can see how you can combine it with combat boots to contrast the structured and “power lady” feel of the top.

I worked at anthro 2 years ago and personally I think the quality is worth the price but it's marketed towards a slightly more mature demographic I would say like 30s-40s that can afford to spend that money. The clothes are nice, I like that they have a range of styles but let's be real the REAL hit us the homeware section 😍

I would agree! I worked there for a year and the demographic is for sure 30+ and that shows in the price and the style of the garments. The quality is there for most items but still with the price you have to be picky.

I have found that as a straight size Anthropologie really engages in vanity sizing, at least with tops and sweaters. In many other brands I wear a medium in tops, or occasionally a large, but in Anthropologie I often need a small or extra small. This is true for me with *most* of their styles. FYI for anyone out there who's interested in the brand.

My size 0 sister loves Anthropologie, and I was very nervous about anything fitting my size 16 body when she wanted us to get bridesmaid dresses for her wedding there. I was very pleasantly surprised - not only did the dress fit so well that I didn't need any tailoring beyond having it hemmed, but it was flattering and comfortable, as well. But oof, the prices, for sure.

the BHLDN dresses from there are gorgeous. I'm a size 14 and I bought a dusty rose colored velvet one for a friend's black tie wedding, and literally all that needed to be altered was removing the bra cups on the top and putting a little stitch on the bust so it would stay closed.

When I was in my early 20’s I loved Anthropologie. I always shopped in the clearance section and found a beautiful sleeveless cotton blouse for all seasons for like $17 and have found beautiful dresses. But I never would pay full price and they were unique pieces like a work of art which is what I appreciate about Anthropologie style ethic. If it looks basic then no I wouldn’t bother lol and the home decor is to die for. Always shop clearance and sign up for Anthro Perks. Now I’m 27 and married and hardly shop their anymore but I still love to browse. I used to be a size 10/12 too but now I’m a 16 😬 so I doubt I’ll find my size in stores lol

When I used to shop at Antho this is exactly how I felt. Either a FULL on WIN or a full NO. But the pieces really do last if you wash them properly!

Anthropologie usually does sales on weekends! I check their site on Thursday or Friday morning to see if pieces I’ve been eyeing go on sale (or better yet the sale on sales) because I can’t bring myself to pay full price. But I always get compliments on my anthro pieces! And they stick around in my wardrobe.

I worked at Anthro for many years and the secret is to NEVER buy full price. In fact, never even buy sale items at full price, because they usually have a sale on sale. Also, I was thrilled when we started a plus line but beware, most stores don’t carry it in store. Some of the big ones like NYC etc. do but for the most part you have to buy the plus line online, which is frustrating. They’ll have any plus size items that were returned to the store in store on a little rack, but nothing near the range they have for straight size clothes.

One thing I think is important to note is that, while incredibly expensive, Anthropologie is one of the few places that offers plus sizes something unique. Eloquii is very similar in pricing, they just have more sales. There’s only a couple places that offer more extended sizes in things that aren’t just basics.

And for clothing stores to check out, I'd say Aritzia if you're looking for regular brands. Before anyone comes for me, I usually wear a 14-16. However, I find Aritzia's letter sizing has some good leeway. Anything that has an elastic waist or jersey material tends to fit me pretty good. I avoid the number sizing because it tends to be really finicky. If you do try Aritzia, I recommend the Tempest dress, Wilfred twirl skirt, Wilfred market dress and the market slit dress. I have recently seen a few pieces go up to a 2XL if you're lucky to snag them haha.

The sleeves on the striped top and the raspberry top are smocked from what I can see. Same with the back of the raspberry top. It is a great way to make dresses or shirts fit you when you size up or down often. I had a friend smock the back of a velvet dress that was too big in the chest. Fits me at a size 12 and a size 16. It's hard to do. But for the right item worth it.

I've never bought anything full price at anthro but everything I've bought from them has been such nice quality and I still have and wear years later. I understand their higher prices, it makes sense because of the quality although I think they do push it too high on some items (hence why I purchase only in the sale). I'd much rather buy from them in the sale than from a cheaper store where the clothes fall apart after a few washes
