Love the way you sew the block together! When I try to do it piece by piece it’s almost guaranteed that I’ll turn one or two the wrong way. Thank you for showing how you sew the 9 patch. I will try that tomorrow!

I love that we don’t have to cut it apart into a disappearing nine patch when it’s done. It’s done! I tried the D 9 patch as my 2nd quilt and using very busy fabrics it turned into a crazy quilt! lol! I finally just finished the top after putting it down and bingeing on KZbin for my next quilt which are layer cakes. I ordered the ruler after watching the Tridazzle Tutorial, but I don’t think the fabrics I chose would be good for the pattern. I love that I could do the triangles in this pattern and they don’t have to match anywhere outside the block. Thanks, Cindi!

Thank you Cindi for another cute and interesting idea. I recently was sewing batik fabric using my usual sz 80 needle and heard that sound. It was a new needle. Luckily was sewing with our quilt group before being shut down and one of the ladies said batik likes a sz 70 needle. I've also seen where the 2nd line is drawn 1/2" from original mark and then you turn after sewing 1st seam and sew along 2nd mark and cut between. Voila, your bonus HST is done. I missed that trick when snowballing strips until after I was cutting. Making the HSTs with the itty bitty pieces is definitely tricky and certainly not speedy 😯😊

Cindi, I love your hack when piecing the blocks. But ... I was taught to press the seam allowances across a row before joining to another row. Will the block be a little wonky if I don't? I'm a new quilter, so I don't have mad skills like you :)

Your wiggling your iron, do you find that the pressure of moving the iron back and forth, distorts your block? Just curious, because I discovered distortions on my squares, but, when I just put the iron down and not swish it around, I no longer had misshapen squares. Thanks for the tutorial!
@TheFabricPatch
@TheFabricPatch 3 жыл бұрын
Hmm. I don’t think so. But mostly I was wiggling my iron to get it to turn back on. That’s one of those annoying ones that shuts off when I don’t touch it. And it’s also quite heavy so it wasn’t sliding my fabric too much.

It’s a design wall. This particular one is a 2 inch grid print it onto flannel and we’ve taped it onto a foam core insulation board. It’s just easy to be able to see everything. For about 20 years I did the same process off of my floor. Fighting with the cats the entire time!

@@TheFabricPatch Just heard some U-tube sewers on U-tube say to be careful and check your 5 inch, charm packs for correct measurements as thru may not be the 5 inches there cut in. So.. thank you Cindy. Sure sounds like y'all are having a great trip, aside from some hick-ups. Keep having fun.
