@@sarabasti3029 Sara, your on the right path. Draw an FBD and do a force balance that includes the weight of the casing string, and two external forces. The pressure on the top cross sectional area of the casing produces a downward force. The pressure on the bottom cross sectional area produces an upward force. You can also apply archimides principle which is a lot simpler and you get the exact same result on how your trying to do it. Hope it helps!
