I would say from looking at the pictures on plate A that it is showing you using both clear cutting plates on top and the other platforms at the bottom just like a normal big shot

I heard that you can use the smaller plates from the manual BigShot on this. Might be a good idea to save the large plates for larger projects. I’m still on the fence about getting this. It’s quite an investment when my manual still gets the job done.

Hi Sara Well yesterday I went to JoAnns and got me a Tim Holtz Sizzix Switch. I was checking on line and JoAnns regular price 339.00 and they had it in sale for $239.00 and 1 left so hubby took me over there and got it for me for my Mother’s Day gift. And then I played with it and OMG. LOVE the Switch so much!! So thanks kiddo for doing your review because I know my Vagabond2 is on its last legs because it has almost no power soooooooooman oh man so glad you did your review because I needed a new die cutting machine and didn’t know what I’d do!! I am in the uk and just watched a KZbin video of how to use this machine and they use both clear plates on top of the platform just as the pictures show and how you use a manual big shot

5:38-5:52: Could you plug this into a smart plug? I use Kasa smart plugs for my plants: Using the Kasa Smart plug app, I set my GE Grow light to turn on at a certain time each morning and shut off at a certain time each afternoon. If you use your machine on a regular basis, perhaps you have an approximate schedule that you can use to coincide with your crafting time.

Great video...but I would have thought that both plates go on top of the adaptor plate.. ie ...adaptor - cutting plate - paper - die - cutting plate. That way it wouldn't matter if the die was facing up or down

That isn’t what the directions say…I would have thought so too…hmmm, but you know what? I already voided my warranty so I could try it and let you know..I’m game.

Hi Sara. I was curious about the Switch because I’m a Huge die cutting scrapper too…..even thos I have a Cricut Maker I make most of my embellishments from images to alphas etc and I use a Tim Holtz Vagabond2 and have had Vagabonds since they came out wore out my 1st one literally it dies and had had it for years, then got my 2nd Vagabond and user error broke it. Uggh by then the Vagabond 2 was out and have had this for five or more years and like you use allot ALLOT but really needed to know more about the switch and you sure did give it a Magnificent review and demonstration I MUST SAY I’m IMPRESSED how long the plates last !! Thanks for your Outstandingly detailed tutorial and I hope Sizzix sees your video!! Looking forward to maybe seeing you do your mass die cutting because it’s interesting and I know what it takes to die cut stamped images but I’m sure there’s many who get frustrated because they don’t. I have the white one and it’s maybe 4 months old. I was using my bottom platforms and one of the smaller top plates with a new Magic Mat. No trouble several times this morning…then everything came to a screeching halt. I had reversed the top plate and I think it was just too warped. Now everything is stuck inside the Switch and I can’t wrench it out! Any thought?

It worked out, thank goodness! I must have explored a dozen videos and one suggested trying to run another Cuttlebug sized plate through behind the stuck plates…and it worked! Pushed the whole stuck mess through easily! I’m not using my old warped plates anymore! Thanks for replying!

Is there a reason you don’t use both cutting plates in the top part of your sandwich? Then you won’t accidentally cut into the A plate if you turn something the wrong way. I have not been able to get my Switch to accept wafer dies. I can’t figure out the sandwich for those. I did buy a big shot sized set of cutting plates for smaller cutting jobs to help the big ones last longer.

Honestly,just because the directions say not to, but after your comment and another one, I am going to try it! My warranty is already voided!

Also…I have use wafer dies without a problem..but I’m on the road now and cant remember the sandwich! I will check it and come back when and tell you when I get home!

I’m confused as to why you’re using your sandwich like that. The A plates shows the die sandwiched between the two cutting plates, the exact same sandwich as the manual big shot. Also, how did you void your warranty?

I don't know how you have kept your plates from bowing. Mine are SO BOWED and I have not used it that much. I already had to buy new plates once after about 10-20 passes. And the new ones are bowed already too after even less use. Also, the illustration instructions on the base plate show that you can put your dies facedown if you have your cutting plate sandwich correct. The base plate shows the base, adapter, cutting plate, die, cutting plate. The only ones you cut face up are detail dies, not the frame/outline dies. But, maybe that is why my cutting pads are warped. IDK.

Ohh..that’s interesting…maybe that is why my plates aren’t bowed…I was considering trying the other sandwich, but after your comment I think I’ll stick with this one..I would be going through a plate a week and that would be a hard pass!
