I’ve been getting into Austin’s work the last couple years, he’s a total gearhead (as far as drum gear goes) in the best way possible. With triggers especially, a smaller kick drum with tight tuning is going to give you better response. But the custom snare tells me we’re on the same wavelength. There’s something about that initial crack and the ringing out it has afterward that only works with the right materials. Too many drums just have the typical beefy thud, but the crack you get from metal built snares (and some piccolo wood snares) just can’t be beat. Keep killin it Austin!
