Think before buy the Sj8 Pro camera because there are 4 big issue: 1) power on/off issue, for some reason often when you try to power on the camera it doesn't work, you must remove the battery, wait a while and put in again and will work. 2) RAW picture file are impossible to open in a correct way, before you open with Photoshop or any other software, you must convert the file with a specific software from Sjcam, after conversion from RAW to DNG, you will be able to open the file but with strange colours, in my case with a dominant red shade, impossible to use. 3) Sometimes and randomly the camera freezes, to work again you must remove the battery, there is no way to torn off and on with the power button. 4) The Sjcam support it's unprofessional, they answer to your assistance tickets only if they know the solution if they do not know the solution they will never answer and If you try to open a new ticket, they close your account, as happened to me.

What % is your mic volume at on your SJ8 pro?. Sounds like its at like 10-20%. Bring it upto 80-85% and it'll sound great.

Do these camera reviewers actually ever do any adjustments in the menus to get the best out of a camera when doing reviews.. I own the SJ8 Pro and the footage is crisp and vibrant, you can have the gyro & fish eye removal ( distortion ) when running in 4K 30 FPS which no other action cam does this..The gyro is literally buttery smooth, no gimble required.. Costs less than half of the GoPro 6 and is leaps and bounds ahead, unless GoPro comes up with something special with the next release then they’re going to be in trouble, GoPro has some serious competition, if SJCAM had made this water proof with out a case they’d have made it a real GoPro killer..

Sound is better on the knock off but you really should check the same distance on both cameras put them in the same Focus range the knock-off set further away

That second back-door of the WP case is probably one that lets some sound through (and isn't waterproof)

No, the second door is for having touch screen access... It's thinner plastic and only waterproof till like 5m

There's something wrong with your SJCam SJ8 Pro I have the same unit and my mic is way better than what you uploaded as a matter of fact it's even better than my GoPro Hero 6 I also have both so you definitely have a defect. Plus you can add an external mic with the SJ cam which is what all actioncams need for way better audio and you can't with the Hero 6.

He 1st tested the audio of sj cam and it was heard clear. Then in the end he said the audio of SJ cam was poor. And he said the audio of Go pro was better which actually was the audio of SJ Cam.

In my opinion the go pro hero six what is the better camera I have an SJCAM S6 legend and a go pro hero six I have to say the go Pro is way better than any SJCAM The customer service is probably 1000 times better I had an issue with my S6 legend would lines going through the screen I still haven’t gotten an email back from SJCAM and that has been over a year and a half or so and I have sent countless emails to their tech department so for me never again will I buy an SJCAM camera 🎥 thanks for the video it was very enjoyable to watch

I also have both cameras. I will never buy another Go Pro - I guess we have had different experiences. Also the picture & sound seems better on my SJCam. Even though I dropped it and it smashed the rear screen, it still works on my SJCam, whereas the GoPro which has been treated with kid gloves, the rear screen just stopped working for no reason. We can all make our own choices, but to me it's overpriced. It's the Apple of Action cams. The recent market performance of GoPro would seem to confirm they are losing market share.

I have now switched to the GoPro Hero 7 Black....My SJCAM SJ8 Pro broke within a couple of months of using it (shut off and wouldn't turn on at all). SJCAM told me to contact the seller which I did who offered to send me a new one...it never arrived. They supposedly sent a second (from Malaysia again) it never arrived again. Then the seller said they would refund me...never happened despite repeated promises. I contacted SJCAM to tell them I wanted to get a replacement and sent them video of the malfunction (like I did to the seller). They erased my help ticket like it never existed...I haven't heard back from them...I'm done with SJCAM...which is sad because I like the SJ7 STAR for cockpit audio when I fly. The only problem I've had with the two SJ7 STAR cameras is that the micro usb port has broken off in both cameras (I superglued a micro usb to usb cable on the second one before it totally broke off so I could keep using it in the plane while charging it at the same time with a USB power supply). The first SJ7 would not record sound after the micro usb port broke (while using the plug in official SJCAM microphone. The GoPro Hero 7 surpasses everything...that's all I'm saying..the only problem is that it's never going to be as cheap as SJCAM. I did all of my video reviewing with the SJ7 and SJ8 but they will be retired soon with GoPro cameras. The hypersmooth technology is what sold me and it is great. I do not have room in the plane to have a gyro. UPDATE: They also took down my 2nd help ticket without anything said....DO NOT BUY SJCAM!!!!....or should we call it SCAM and make the J silent?

If you're only looking for a good Dashcam or leave everything in Auto-Mode, then definitely go for the SJCAM guys. Had the 5000xelite once, longer battery time, cheaper and Touchscreen where Gopro sold the additional crappy display seperately for yeeeeeeaaaars.... If you want to improve your videos in terms of color and dont care about the money so much....switch to the Gopro. GoPro Tune setting changes everything if you want to improve the look and feel of your videos.Thats why i sold my SJCAM after one year of use, also the Wifi-module broke after falling down from a height of only 3 feet...thats crappy.

Cool vid. I have the SJ7. I don't think they make it anymore. The vid on these cameras look great. The microphones suck. I even added the SJ Cam External Mic to my camera and it still sounds horrible.

Ops. You seem to be mistaken in the audio testing. Instead if good quality of SJcam 8 pro you said the audio came from Go pro. I heard it many times to confirm. For the 1st time also I was happy when you said the 1st audio was from SJ Cam. But in the end I think you seem to be mistaken. Can you pls check the audio of both .. I think SJ has better audio from ur videos.

yep I have an adapter that i bought online, you can record even without the battery using a powerbank, but i would not recommend it on daytime because it easily gets hot

I'm not a fan of GoPro. I do not like it because of its high prices in its cameras, many competitors come out, but let's not tell ourselves lies, the reality is that it has the best video quality. After some research, i found that most cameras have image stabilization but it only works with 1080 resolution, so not sure if this is the case with this SJCAM camera or it is working but doesn't give good results. It was the reason why i decided to give the Thieye a try, way much cheaper than the SJCAM and it has 4K 30fps with image stabilization at this resolution.
