I have pre-briefed some of the fouls that we would call and the proper way to win the ball because of the way I had seen the kids play the weekend prior. It was as though they didn't know that they couldn't shove each other off the ball. After the games that day, I was thanked by many parents for helping the kids understand what they're allowed to do and how to play. Thanks for the content, bud. It helps a lot. I'm catching on.

Love it, Manuel! That's something that warms my heart as well, getting feedback from parents and coaches about helping the kids understand the rules and how to apply them. I make a habit of verbalizing every single foul call I make, and especially in house league games it's common for me to delay a restart several times a game to answer rules questions from players. Last week in a U12 game (the first year these players are on a full-sized pitch), I called an indirect in the penalty area for a pass-back, and then preceded to spend probably 3 minutes explaining about two touches to score, measuring out a distance and explaining that defenders could be outside that radius or on the goal line between the posts, about how they couldn't come closer until the ball was touched (not the whistle blowing), and in general ensuring that EVERYBODY knew what they could and couldn't do. Then we restarted. Fast forward to later in the game when there was another indirect in the penalty area, and I asked "does everyone remember when we did this earlier?" and they were on it! I like to tell coaches that I view them and myself as having similar roles. We're all trying to help these kids learn the game. They do it through skills, tactics, and teamwork, and I do it by helping them learn the rules. That always gets a great response, and smooths out the whole dynamic between us. Gets them to view me as someone they're working WITH during the game, instead of someone they're working AGAINST. Makes game management a breeze.

Great video. I tell all my kids that 50% of the battle is perception. If you do exactly what you just laid out, it shows you are professional and pay attention to detail. It may even buy you some slack from everyone at the field on some boarder line calls.

you also need to make sure the benches are in the proper spots ..school games will have the markings there ..also there's a club field in pennsylvania that has a tree's canopy over the field, the ball hits the canopy sometimes and according to USSF the tree is a pre existing condition and the restart is an indirect form the opposing team ..this should be made clear in the pregame to the teams and the ref crew
