I'm not even a big U2 fan but that was fantastic. What is it with U2 that whenever something terrible happens in the world, they can mention it in their shows in such a beautiful way? Wether it's the show in Sarajevo after the war, playing in Santiago a few years after the end of Pinochet's regime singing "El pueblo vencerá" (I'm not sure but I believe that was Salvador Allende's campaign slogan) or giving their stage to the Eagles of Death Metal after the attacks in Paris. You don't have to be a U2 fan to be moved by things like that. They can always get people together to process their anger, sadness and fear in a positive way and that's fantastic.

A few years back my wife & I were visiting family in Argentina. One day I met a "Mother" and as she told me her heartbreaking story of loss I sat there silently, quietly and ultimately feeling helpless. All I could do is reach and hug her. Sometimes when I am having a rough day or see another soul struggling in their's, I just reach out and offer a hug. Sounds cheesy to some I am sure, but nothing lowers our defenses faster than a simple hug. One day... peace.

Say what you like about bono, but as a band, U2 never shied away from the injustices and suffering in the world, remember they were doing Amnesty International's Conspiracy of Hope tour back in the 80's before they had become the juggernaut they now are, also we need justice for Chile, and the Mothers Of The Disappeared, and we also need Justice for the People of Palestine, for to long American foriegn policy has failed the very people it purports to support, but finally the US is getting its dye, with a country divided and no hope of reconciliation, perhaps this is the beginning of the end for the worlds greatest ' democracy '
