I have to show this to my wife. She's not of any belief, but I think she would identify with Skadi. She loves the cold, loves archery, quite independent, and is a "take no shit" woman.

All my life I never fared well in warm/hot weather. In my younger years I pretty much lacked assertiveness and ambition. Now Skadi walks with me during a snow storm (my neighbors think I'm crazy). Now when I want something I pursue it with Skadi's help. Reading about and studying Skadi helped me in both areas. I like the attributes of all Nose deities, but especially Skadi. SKOL

Interesting, about the lack of humor people have felt. I definitely get a strong sense of humor from skaddi. Her story lists laughter as one of the things she WANTED from the Aisir and it struck me as earnest and not a trick or challenge. Keep your ears open for her laughter on a mountain ; )

This is so cool! The way your are describing your relationship to her is almost to the T how I am with her. When winter comes around, even if I’m not thinking of it she will make sure to give me a “hey, it’s my time” lol. I look forward to honoring her every year in the winter. ❤️

Much of what you said resonated with me since I follow Ullr! I think there are several parallels and I might try connecting Skadi too.

So glad to see this video! Skadi is one of my favorites of the Norse pantheon. I’ve given her offers during seasons of hunting in my area. She so self driven with many attributes that are associated now days with masculinity and I love it! She’s a bad ass and I don’t think she gets enough attention in the pagan community.

As offerings I gave berries, an acorn, clippings from a spruce tree, pine cones, runes, and some whiskey because whiskey warms you up. I like to give her things related to winter and nature.

It doesn't get cold enough to snow in my local area (it never has, winter has always been rain for me), but winter 2021 my family and I spent Christmas in the snow and I could feel Skaði so strongly there. The area has enormous granite cliffs and it has such an ancient energy so I feel the gods most strongly there. But after the Christmas snowfall Skaði was just everywhere. I like the idea of connecting with her for other aspects though. I was planning another snow trip this winter, I had already planned an offering but now I have even more ideas for it.

I'm in Denmark, where we get fairly little snow, and have no mountains, but I love your info about Skadi. My husband and I are planning a ski trip in a years time, and this video makes me consider venerating Skadi to help make our ski trip a good one, since it's the first one we've made in over 10 years. I would also love to bring some sort of mini altar with me on our trip to make offerings to her while in the mountains. :)

This was a very interesting video. I don't work with Skadi, however she is one of the deities to have visited me in the astral. It was about a year and a half ago and we were in the snowy mountains, and she guided me through the snow into the caves with a white wolf. It was so vivid and visceral. I did research Skadi afterwards but generally I haven't taken it further than that because The Morrigan and Lilith are such strong presences in my practice longterm. It's always great to hear more of the mythology and how others work with deities. 🙏Thanks for sharing Bente Xx

I live in Alaska and I wondered if I would ever feel called to work with her or worship her. Today I did a banishing spell with snow I was outside in 2 degree Fahrenheit collecting snow and felt the winter spirit around me and thought that must be her. I asked for her assistance in the spell and gave her an offering of warm tea which I knew to do thanks to this video. Thanks for this information!

Skaði fascinates me. I live in SE Texas, USA where it almost never snows and any mountains are hundreds of miles away. However, I love her independent spirit, strength, and determination to get justice. On those rare occasions it gets close to freezing here, I think of her, but haven’t made any offerings. I think next time a cold wind blows here, I will make an offering.

I think I first heard of her years ago after I read Beowulf for the first time in school. I went to the library and got a book on Norse mythology. And admittedly, I don't remember much. But I enjoyed your story very much! I have a lot of respect for her now after watching this.

Ove always experienced Skadi in the same way. Serious. She doesn't chat. When she talks, it's profound and she's efficient with words or in whichever way she communicates. She's not a cuddly, loving, affectionate personality. More like a trainer for special forces in the Arctic region. 😂❤

This goddess is one of MANY gods and goddesses that I had NEVER heard of until I was introduced to them through the online MOBA video game called Smite: Battleground Of The Gods. Hi-Rez Studios, the game's developers, is VERY good at staying true to the mythology of the characters it adds to Smite, while also putting their own twists/spins on the mythology to help flesh out the characters/gods/goddesses, especially if there isn't a huge amount of mythology about them. Skadi is a playable Norse Pantheon character in that game under the Hunter class and she's one of my favorite Hunters in the entire game to play, second only to the Celtic god Cernunnos.

My name is Øivind. I live in Norway. Thank you for the video!!! It was interesting. In Norse mythology, the goddess Skade is associated with hunting and skiing. After an unsuccessful marriage with the sea god Njord, she moves alone up into the mountains where she hunts with arrows, bows and spears. She uses the spear as both a ski pole and a weapon. In the summer months, she also hunts on the glaciers (where there is eternal snow). Skade is a Jotun woman, and not born as a goddess. But she becomes an important sacrificial god for hunters in North Norway - Nordland, Troms, Finnmark, and inner parts of Eastern Norway during and after the Viking Age. She also becomes a kind of link between Sami and Norse mythology. Jotunheimen in Norse mythology is believed to have been located somewhere in Finnmark. The name of the mountain massif that is today called Jotunheimen is a literary name. It was Asmund Olavsønn Vinje who first used it. The name was continued to attract British tourists in the second half of the 19th century. Place names such as Skåbu, Skodje, Skien and Ski are believed to have originated from the skiing goddess Skade. For offering l think she prefers hot mjød at the first snowfall of the winter.

Thanks for this great video! I'm glad I found your channel this way. It was very helpful to get a more rounded picture of Skadi. I'm trying to build a connection to her because I'm currently visiting a course to get a hunting license here in Bavaria. I find it very difficult to build the inner strength for it and I think Skadi can help here. It was very eye-opening to learn more about the other aspects of her in your video. I can connect a lot with the aspect of independence and survival and now I'm really looking forward to getting to know her more if she will agree to it :) I could certainly benefit from being a bit more badass from time to time.. Greetings!

i've also ready about skadi in a fiction book. it's called the witch's heart by genevieve gornichec and i could not put this down. it is a super good book. if you read it, maybe a video on your opinion to how true to the source material would be a cool video. and other books that although fiction stick close to mythology.

I like the idea of Skaldi as a bi/gender-queationing person in a very conservative area. I have some of the same interests as her... I feel at him in the mountains and all that... But I live in a swampy area in the states. It snows here once every few years and it melts by the end of the day or turns into ice for q couple of days then melts. :( I just don't feel like I can connect well with her.
