The single greatest Konpa Band EVER. Followed closely by System Band and then Tabou Combo. Tabou is up there for their accomplishments. But musically, Skah Shah and System were so far ahead of everyone else, its not even close.

Pretty accurate statement I must say. But System being ranked above Tabou would be nothing short of sacrilegious if you ask me. Not with the kind of very subpar lyrical skills shown pretty much on every single one of their albums over the years. Perhaps I would have said yes had you said frères Déjean instead. Debatable still, but I would have accepted it. SB over Tabou however? No, there's simply no way!!

Skah Shah and Tabou Combo can not be compared. Although they both play kompa, their styles are different. Skah Shah is suave and mellow, Tabou is energetic and firey. The one people like more depends on what they look for in music. Personally, I like both but I prefer Skah Shah because of songs like romantic music like Damou Damou, Caroline and Ble Ti Machann. But sometimes I feel like 8mm Sacrement, New York City and Bebe Paramount.

This music production was recorded in New York City at Latin Sound Recording Studio when I was an assistant sound engineer with chief engineer Jon Fausty who recorded and mix this song. This song was recorded on the 8108 Neve console with Necam automation, A 24 track Studer recorder with the DBX noise reduction multitrack system was used and the speed of the recording was at 15ips w/nr.

Kompa music is not about just the bit but also the text . Anyone who try to compare Skah Shah to Tabou Combo or another band, should put everything on balance.Right now in 2013 I can play any song of Shleu Shleu or Skah Shah for children 4 years up I'm not worry about nothing, because the music has been writing to educate.

It almost impossible to compare Haitian Kompa bands. They are unique because there was such a richness of talent and they have their own style. If I have to choose, you need to throw a "5 best mix" that shall include: Skah Shah, Tabou Combo, Freres Dejean, Djet-X (even if they were short-lived) and Caribbean Sextet (not sufficiently recognized)!
