I particularly enjoyed this video. I quite like the Messer, and I always enjoy seeing good Messer use. Your Messer use was a lot more like what I read in the treatises than usual. Good binds, winds, and grapples. A lot of videos of Messer sparring I see use it more like a short saber, but you used it like a Messer. Probably my favorite video of yours in some time.

Nice sparring and commentary! Skall, you'd have liked the point system they used at National Tartan Day - 2 points for the sword arm instead of 1! Really messed up my point totals - I like a lot of belly shots and upper leg shots (used to be 3 and 2, but both were only 1)...
@Ranstone5 жыл бұрын
Wait, two points for the sword arm, and only one for head and torso? Hmm... That seems like a recipe for bad habits... I don't want to be that guy who's pretending to be a keyboard expert, but in the sword-fighting I used to do, hand's didn't even count, as it taught people to attempt solid hits instead of relying on arm snipes. I suppose if you're hit in the hand, you're just as "Out of the fight" as if you got decapitated, but I'm still skeptical... Something tells me this is going to be my shower thoughts for the next week or so. Good food for thought...

Love these so much for inspiration when writing sword fights. Hope your shoulder gets fixed eventually. 7:44 His attacker took a lunging step against him, throwing a low cut at his belly, right to left. Had S. not stepped out of reach in time he might have watched his entrails slide upon the floor. That would have been his end, but there was no time to contemplate such things. Quick as a cat he brought down his own blade in a savage slash. The crunch of bone and tendon rewarded him when the blade bit into his opponent's arm. 'Like a butcher with a cleaver,' his master had always said, not unkindly. Hand, wrist and blade all tumbled to the floor. His opponent gave a wince. 'End it,' his eyes were saying. The sight of him turned S.'s stomach so much that he had to look and reconfirm that his guts were still inside him. "Kill me!" the one-armed man demanded. S.'s head was spinning. "You know, that's my favourite cut," he heard himself say. "Evade first, then follow up with a quick slash to the arm." It was grotesque.
