I do think they went overboard with certain plot points (won’t spoil it here). Or maybe I should say they didn’t handle them very tactfully. The reason Isak’s story was so refreshing in OG Skam was bc it eschewed a lot of the negative cliches we’ve come to expect from coming out dramas. Sometimes it’s nice to have a story where someone figured out that their queer without the world or other people punishing them for it. 😕

@@Casin yeah, I agree they went overboard with a very specific scene that then is left as a dangling thread and is never resolved. It was pointless. Bordering on torture pOrn, in my opinion. Because it did nothing but just hurt the characters and then NOTHING was done about it. It's the one thing that I don't like about this shows season. The rest of it they did very VERY well but that one particular scene went too far and wasn't resolved. 🤷‍♀️ Leaves a bad taste in the mouth, for sure.

@@Casin I get that, but I also think there is more than one way to tell the same story. I feel like a remake where the reality of homophobia plays a role has its place as well. That’s not to say everything was handled perfectly. The SCENE needed more resolution, at least another convo between Robbe and Sander. I’m glad they at least brought it up again during wtfockdown but it should’ve been done during the season. Regardless I really love this remake and story.

I remember watching this live and we were all angry at Robbe all weekend but with hindsight blaming the gay person for internalised homophobia after millennia of oppression is not the best clarity. Robbe is by far the least angry but most broken and closeted Isak. His friends suck, he says sorry all the time and he is still confused about his feelings towards Noor. You have probably noticed by this point that there has been no crazy comment or any link with religion. Although it’s not always easy Robbe does have a good relationship with his mother and Wtfock decided instead to go down the route of internalised homophobia. I think for Robbe this does really fit because later on you’ll see he is the sweetest version of Isak and he puts everybody before himself sometimes at his own detriment. Robbe struggles with who he is as a person, not just his sexuality, in this season. What is his place in his friend group, is he a good enough son to his mother, is he worthy of help people offer him, is he good enough period. His self worth is so low at the beginning of the season which is why the found family at the flat share and new friends like Milan are so important in this season. It shows not only a romantic relationship can fix you but a sense of belonging in all areas of your life and I think that’s why I love this season so much

Fun fact, this tunnel they were cycling through is actually quite a popular tourist attaction in Antwerp. It connects the left and right banks of the city. It was build in the 1930's and still has a lot of authentic elements like a wooden escalator :D

@@jossposs3400 I responded to the wrong comment lolol. I never connected with espana as well as those other three. Cris grew a lot in her season and hers’ is the only I REALLY like. But Cris herself really annoyed me a lot of the time. (While she was hilarious at other times.) Eva’s wasn’t bad. I really didn’t like Nora’s season, it felt like a chore to watch. And Amira’s was just disappointing. I really love her and I feel like she was overshadowed by the whole Lucas and Kassim drama. Plus they whitewashed her love interest and made him not even respect her religious beliefs. And even then instead of him learning, they just don’t end up together. I didn’t like that she was the only one alone at the end. I mean damn even Imane in France got her man and that season was rough. However, there are things I love. I admire that they made an Isak story from a girl perspective and there are a lot of moments from espana that are just beautiful. Also Joana is my spirit animal. She and Sander would definitely be besties.

Yeah, as others have said the internalized homophobia Robbe experiences is a little bit more intense than other iterations of Isak. And he's definitely more directing it outwards then the other iterations of Isak do. Hense his use of slurs.

I’m not at all conflicted about which version I think is best, and as you probably know by now, this isn’t it. I think it really goes off the rails there at the end, and I also think the episodes end at odd places. I do like the use of Bowie, but it bothers me that they seem to go to a swimming pool for no other reason than that the OG did it. And as a sidenote, Robbe reminds me more of Lucas in Skam France than of Isak. All being said, I do enjoy watching the two of you react and the interplay between you both, whatever I may think of the show you’re watching.

@@belpop I was talking strictly from a physical point of view, that they look more like each other than either of them look like Isak, but when you put them all next to each other, each of them looks pretty distinctly different. In fact, all of the variations on Isak have unique looks.

Robbe is so sweet and innocent looking, he has the biggest smile, and he has the cutest eyes that squint when he smiles and they are brown brown lol.
