Who are these guys? They are my ocs! Their names are Dario (brown haired) and Garrett (blond ponytail), a couple you can check out on my tumblr blog linked below! The other two ocs you can see are Mei (dark haired gal) and Kathy (redhead). There are a few other silhouettes of other characters as well.
Are they your personas? I apparently get this confusion a lot (maybe because its common for youtube animators to animate their personas?) BUT no they are not! They are original characters that I created and are in no way related to me or anyone else.
Are they boys or girls? They are two boys in a relationship! Please don't think Garrett is a girl simply because he likes dresses.

earlier this year something similar happened to me, my ex boyfriend was suffering from depression and I was the reason why he got out of depression but I got stressed and abit later I had a mental breakdown a week before quarantine. Honestly, this made me cry. No joke. The animation, the meaning, the song, everything. I used to have a boyfriend that was constantly in a state of, well, melancholy and sadness. Always dwindled in doldrums. He was awful to himself. He always degraded himself, and put a lot of pressure and stress on to me to the point of me bursting into tears from stress and confusion. I had to tell him that the way he acted hurt me a lot, and made me want to break up. He had a lot of problems. He hurt himself everytime he thought he did something wrong to me, and threatened to kill himself. He would ask touchy questions like, "what would happen if I jumped off the roof?". He was mentally abusive to me, and made me feel bad. He pushed all of his mental problems onto me and I didn't have time to think of myself. I slowly crumbled, and eventually broke. It was the worst relationship I've had by far. I'm not comparing him to Garett, no, no, but he made me get a little gray spot in my HEART for every scare he shared. If you, or anybody else deals with someone in the future that uses you as a punching bag or "toy" to release all their stress onto, and you feel like you just wanna cry, leave them. If they have deep, deep problems, they need to figure them out by themself.

I didn't really try to get away from him. I told him multiple times to get a therapist but he says it won't help. He hasn't gone to a therapist before, but I have and I can prove it helps. I know going to therapy and how much it helps is subjective from person to person, but he was actively refusing help from me. I tried to help him by going to tell his grandmother that smoking in the house is bad for his physical health, but he did everything in his power to stop me. I knew he needed help, and now he has help, but he was actually the one to tell me that it's an unhealthy relationship and we should break up. I already knew it was bad, and it messed with my brain and my body when he was texting me at 2 in the morning saying he was gonna kill himself so I nearly have a panic attack for him to not kill himself. I didn't want him to of course, he's a great kid, but I was just really tired of the same cycle of crying wolf go on.

Well deep problems should be helped with by a professional. It's not healthy to put all that stress on a partner (I had a boyfriend like this but the twist was that I was the same back). I ended up really bad but after years of therapy I am much better, and I hope he's doing well too.

Sometimes you focus so much on making sure everyone else it okay, that you get in the mindset that you can’t tell anyone that you need help too. You let your hair turn grayer and grayer, until all you see is the suffering of your friends, and not the happiness you have together. sometimes you just have to step back and let yourself feel the love you need and deserve, and let the gray fade away.

I think I finally get it, Dario has been listening to Garret's depressing thoughts for so long that he's afraid of him breaking down alone, without him there to help. But now, Dario is filled up with so much sadness and anxiety worrying about Garret, he is the one breaking down in the end. I think the comparison of the “baby” character and the one getting “gray hair” in the song is very interesting. I think it’s a really good metaphor for taking too much responsibility and not allowing yourself to be weak, an adult doesn’t cry to a child because they are supposed to be strong for them. In the end of the animation Dario learns that’s not what their relationship should be, they should be equals and equally supporting each other and he is allowed to be vunerable.

I know this is late but that wasn’t the meaning of this. It’s about how someone accidentally venting too much can end up hurting someone else. I really adore the story you did for this one! My theory is that Dario is always there for Garret and acts as his emotional support or his shoulder to cry on. He loves him and wants to help him, but it's taking a one-sided emotional toll on him that builds up throughout the animation. In his mind, he probably believes that Garret already has too much on his plate so he doesn't want to add on to it so he doesn't share the pain he feels from it all to him. His grey hair might represent the stress he's gaining from carrying so many of Garrets emotions and not telling about any of his own, and eventually Garret catches on, acting as his shoulder to cry on in return. This video is sharing the perspective of the person I've been in love with for over 2 years. 10 months ago they told me they didnt love me anymore. I know they still do. But I was too emotional. I was too weak, and too hurt, and it was drowning them. They couldnt handle it. In the past few months of quarantine, I've gone from being hospitalized because of my mental health, to starting to learn how to not dump everything on everybody else. I took about 4 months of silence to myself. No communication with them. And that silence hurt them, but I think I learned a lot. And I think now that we're growing closer again, maybe I've made it better. I hope I have. I'm okay with hurting. But I cant hurt them again. Not like that.

I'm proud of you for getting help, even if it was because of extreme circumstances forced you to. It's hard to even do that much, I know. But, it's ok to hurt sometimes. No ones perfect, and you shouldnt hold yourself up to that either. Easier said than done, I know, but that's how I try to think about when I get into my manic episodes. Though it doesnt always work. Think on the positive, look for silver linings in everything, all of those help to push out negative thoughts. I'm sure this is nothing new as it's been said countless times, but the things most repeated over time are often true. I hope you're doing ok still and please keep improving on yourself, you're doing great and I know you can do it :)

So what I get from this is Dario seeing Gare putting on a happy face and knowing that underneath it is depression. And from what it looks like, Dario helps Gare cope with his depression. But this in turn makes Dario depressed and worrying himself and wears him out so much to the point his hair turns grey from stress over it. And in the end Gare sees this and acts his shoulder to lean on. This is what I get out of it but perhaps I’m looking at it from the wrong angle. Love your work so much Skaroy :) 💜

this makes me think of my ex girlfriend who constantly vented to me about all the heavy and terrible things going on in her life and she went into detail with things that she probably shouldn’t have told me. she never expressed her pain to anyone else and i was rarely able to express my own pain because all the time i was so worried about her breaking down or having a bad day that at the end of our relationship when we would call on the phone together there were times when i would start sobbing from her constantly venting to me because i was carrying too much and couldn’t take much else. the line “i can’t be the only one who hears you” really stands out to me because when i was with her a wished more than anything that she would reach out to other people for help so i wouldn’t be the only one carrying her stuff on my shoulders

Okay, first off- OWW, MY HEART. Second, amazing work as ever! I loved your use of more darker colors to portray the overall somber tone of the video. Lastly, I’m gonna theorize that this video is based on the emotional and mental strife that Dario is going through. I can’t pinpoint what that is exactly, but based on the context clues of the video, I’m assuming that it is because Dario is carrying a lot of weight on him from constantly making sure Garrett is okay, but has never took the time to make sure that he (himself) is okay and that bottling up his problems causes him to grow those metaphorical grey hairs.

It's been exactly 5 years since I first saw your animation. At that time I was in a very difficult relationship, my girlfriend was suffering from severe depression and anorexia. I believed that I could help her, listen and help her as much as needed. Like your character, Dario, my head was getting more and more gray, and more and more I felt like life was leaving me. But I wanted to believe that the same would happened as in your animation, that she would turn around and see what had happened to me. The fact is, she never did. I've been in a different and healthier relationship for 3 years now, and seeing this animation again in my recommendations, I couldn't hold back the tears. I don't know how to put it into words, but it was your animation with your characters that seemed to give me hope and strength in that relationship, even though it ended. And I watch this animation with a warm feeling in my chest, because now I don't listen to fears and thoughts over and over again, getting more and more gray hairs, feeling like life is leaving me. Now I can finally tell my fears. Thank you very much for your animation.

I had this problem in the relationship I am in right now, I was not in the mindset to date but I loved my boyfriend so much it would be impossible to live without him. I was always stuck looking into the past about the mistakes I made and the people that hurt me. I didn't want to let go of him because I he made me really happy but since that always scared me since I thought I was going to lose him I would always burst out into tears out of nowhere and tell him my fears and why I was sad nearly all the time. This went on for a while until he finally told me how I was making him feel and how him always talking to me about my fears was hurting him but even so he continuously told me he would not leave me because that didn't affect his love. This is stupid rare and because of how honest he was about how I affect him I was able to start to get over my past sometimes I still get stuck in the mindset that I will lose him but the trust I have with him now and the honesty I know we both have now gives me nothing to worry about. Sorry about the rant but please, in a relationship be honest about how you're feeling or it will hurt you, the other person, or the people around you. Also while its good to be honest about your feelings and traumas don't let it take over a relationship and when I say that I mean don't vent about it and don't do anything about it, in the song when it says "I get a little grey hair for every scare you share" it talks about how stress can be given if a friend or loved one has constant problems that they may or may not be able to do anything about, that point is increased at the end where it says "I might die". I just hope people can see my comment and I hope its able to help, good luck out there

i think the song is about two lovers/friends, and one of them is becoming depressed and detached, the other friend is the only one who notices it 'i cant be the only one who hears you' so he takes it upon himself to help the friend/lover, but as the friend tells what's happening and is slowly getting better, the pressure of helping the depressed friend is making him depressed himself 'i get a little grey hair, for every scare you share' is him becoming depressed from helping his own friend/lover idk it's a theory, and i think a good one. edit: 308 likes. I don't know why but I cried so much while watching it ;-; I have never been in a relationship or depression before but I just can't stop myself crying when Dario started crying. Great work btw I love it! I think what happened was Garrett was in depression and Dario tried to help him. Because Dario is trying so hard on helping Garrett going through depression and he had to watch someone he loves cry every day, that pressure is way to heavy for him to handle, he got depression from this too. But the only thing he cares about is Garrett not himself, he tried to hide the fact that he got depression and tried to act happy and be a good mental healthy role model for Garrett. OKAY I MAY BE COMPLETELY WRONG BUT UH WHO CARES HERE IT GOES First theory: Dario has spent a lot of time hearing Garrett vent, always listening, always there for him. But I guess he never really talked much about *his* problems as much? So I guess he kept his emotions trapped inside of him, to the point of just not being able to help but break down right there. Second theory: Dario wants people to accept Garrett and is afraid people will judge him. Garret doesn't actually feel that way, however Dario became so worried to the point of thinking Garret was still scared to be himself, when in reality he couldn't be more happy. Dario was overwhelmed by those thoughts. "What if people don't accept him? I need to protect him" Third theory: Garrett used to be really scared of being who he is and what people might think of him and that stayed with Dario. After Garrett was accepted by people, Dario thought he was still feeling insecure inside, still afraid of people's opinion of him. So even though Garrett overcame his insecurities, Dario didn't. Fourth (and last) theory: Garrett is still insecure and is scared of what people might think, but he tries to hide it from Dario to not worry him too much? However, Dario notices it and even gets a bit paranoid. "He is being accepted but he's still afraid."

I love the planning that went into this, the darker colors to portray the overall mood/tone of the video, and I love the whole story line, how Dario was trying to keep Garrett happy instead of keeping himself healthy (I assume that’s what was being said, correct me if I’m wrong) and how he was so overwhelmed he started crying in a seemingly happy place, literally and metaphorically. Literal crying explanation: he physically started crying in the middle of a party, hence the song and drawing backgrounds which is odd because parties are usually happy places full of laughter and smiles, not tears. Metaphorical crying explanation: he is in a loving relationship so he the fact that he starts crying over Garrett makes no sense unless we’re given context (which the video provides). Skaroy also uses the metaphorical grey hairs to show the stress Dario is experiencing because he almost cares to much about Garrett (not really, he just wants to make sure he’s doing ok because Garrett is clearly upset in this video) and a stressing over something that should be happy, not to mention full of laughter and smiles, just like the party.
