I will never understand why people take criticism towards games personal. Imagine if I actually trashed the game, instead of just saying that I don't mess with modded maps. Some recent reviews on the game are way more harsh. Normally, people would be angry that they paid money for a game where they still have to rely on modders to not get bored with it. Not angry at the people pointing that out. Twisted perspectives. And I haven't even been negative. Haha. Chill.

I totally get what you're saying, but I definitely think the devs are taking the right route. Perfecting the gameplay mechanics and polishing the animations before adding new maps and tricks (even tho I know they are also working on new maps and tricks). Also I wouldn't completely compare the modded maps of skater xl to community parks in skate 3. In skater xl those modded maps are made on basically the same system as what the devs are working with, compared to a very limited park creator. I get what you're saying tho :) no need for spicy comments guys 😅

I get that, but I get where Toasty Ghost is coming from as well. For me, because of this I don't enjoy SXL as much, I think at this point I'm just waiting for their version 1 release and hope they tweak the physics a bit or at least give the player the ability to tweak the gravity and other settings like what the stats menu does. I'm really excited to see their full release because the game is really great. To be fair, Session is getting the same treatment right now. I think the devs are just hard at work to fix the physics of that game and believe me they have ways to go in that regard compared to SXL. I still play Session here and there because the hardcore mode makes things a bit more challenging and interesting. So with the huge map, I can still explore and try new things. However, I'm mostly waiting for an update.because that game is also really promising, am hoping that there's a new update soon for it.

I'm not angry, because I knew what it was when I bought it. And if this was any other game, these things would be highly criticized. People are blinded by the hype.
@jahmez47915 жыл бұрын
@@ToastyGhost this is actually a pretty common path(with PC indie games) allow fans and enthusiast's to buy in early to keep the development going, Minecraft and rimworld were both sold in early access way before they were completed and mods were totally nessicary to make them long term enjoyable. A game like no mans sky was released unfinished, because nowhere did they imply that development was ongoing. Everywhere sxl has said it's early access, videos show that it's buggy and even if the frequency of updates isn't ideal it has been improving slowly. I'm fairly impartial about it just think fan made recreations of IRL locations being the only option is a weird reason. If you said you were waiting for a nearer to release physics system before exploring the wealth of parks that would make sense. Edit: I mean it's unlikely the devs will ever be able to recreate all the locations fans have made. The park creation is less limited than skate3
@ToastyGhost5 жыл бұрын
No Mans Sky bombed in reviews at first. It wasn't until it was improved later that it was good. All I said is that I wasn't doing videos on it because I don't wanna mess with modded parks. I just think that's a completely unrealistic expectation. The developer team is FAR smaller than EA so they know not to waste their time struggling to make a huge open world. They made the LA courthouse and are photo-scanning real skaters and getting animations better, and the physics are already better than skate because skate is just animations that play out when you choose a trick. I think your opinion on mods doesn't make sense. If the Skater XL team released an identical mod map you would ride it? Also of course they make it fit their riding style, but so does the Skate 3 map right? You don't want it to be unskate-able Next up is you said that you can download mod maps then change them to make them fit for you which is incorrect. Another thing is it really isn't similar to Skate 3's community maps because they are all made from only limited entities. In a 3D modelling program, with a good set of skills like some of the top map-creators who do 3D modelling professionally, they can make insane things that have better reflections and details than the original LA courthouse map. These map makers can accurately replicate real life skate spots, and overall just make parks that everyone wishes were possible in skate 3's community maps. Personally I think you should give it a go. The game is very bland without mods but with them you will have an enormous amount of fun. For example, PIPE BMX is a physics demo with mod maps and i have almost 600 hours on it and there is a thriving community around both games. You can't say the same for Skate 3.

I don’t play skater xl because it’s so clunky at the moment. Also in my opinion the one stick and animations in skate are plenty if you know how to manipulate them right. When you put in the two sticks you sacrifice playability for realism which isn’t worth it for a video game I’d rather just skate a few blocks and skate courthouse irl. I’ll play skater xl again when they release the full game and it’s polished.
@ToastyGhost5 жыл бұрын
while i am a big fan of the Skate control schemes (it makes it easy to pick up and play), i do believe that the two stick controls adds more variety for tricks and freedom. its weird getting used to steering with the triggers, but once you learn the controls well enough, its basically just improvement from then on. however, it does lose the 'pick up and play' for the average gamer. it takes effort to get started. more effort if you want to play on something more than the demo area.
