A lot of people in here just complaining about how long the game is taking. As someone who's worked in the games industry for 5 years now, hopefully i can clear some things up. (This is my professional opinion looking in, i am not on the development team for skate 4) Well heres the thing. Skate 2 and 3 had far bigger teams and far more funding, making the speed at which they were pushed out a lot faster Games were also less complicated to make back then. Like. A lot less. And overall took less time to make Skate 4 was also announced prettymuch at the beginning of active development which is insanely early compared to any other AAA project. GTA 6 for example has been in development since before 2017 and yet we're only about to get our first official look at it in December 2023. This gives the project a skewed view of taking longer even though its pretty normal development length for a AAA game. Skate 2 and 3 were also built off the back of skate 1 and were much easier to do as aside from the environment, the games were prettymuch piggybacking off the previous ones development, content and asset-wise, again making the small gap between the games make more sense. This is the same reason why theres a new fifa and 2k every year with minimal effort. Skate 4, in contrast appears to be being built from the ground up looking at early footage. One last thing to note is the style of development they are doing. They are taking as much time as they need to make sure the game captures the magic of the originals by slowly fine tuning the mechanics and physics off the game, collaborating with hundreds of community playtesters. This means the game will take a little longer but will be a much more tailored experience for the fans. As far as AAA development goes, this is more of a finely crafted love letter to fans rather than a deadline crunching, rushed out the door crapshoot like we're uses to. Hope that answers some of the reasons why the game appears to be taking forever.

100%. Most people complaining are just used to being spoon-fed and have never actually had to grab the spoon themselves. Skate's approach to this is highly unique and people should consider how amazing this early access footage & playtests are. Full Circle is even showing their bugs! This new era of entitled foaming-at-the-mouth consumer is so exhausting. Be grateful that tons of talented folk are working hard to make a genuine game. Can't wait to play when it's ready!

@@TheAdaoo7 That's true about dev morale though I'm sure its pretty high! Everything they've already accomplished is incredible. At the end of the day, they work to the best of their abilities and should be proud at what they've accomplished. The negativity by the very annoyingly loud minority is just background noise and they're well aware of it. It feels like they're the "majority" but in reality they're not. Most people are stoked for the game, they just don't express it as in-your-face as the little children. Skate is gonna kick ass!

@@TheAdaoo7 right?! It looks epic. Their animation and mo-cap team did a fantastic job. Even the pushing looks insane. The cloth sims on the more polished clips are so subtle but really ground the skater into the world. It even looks like you can "stomp" some of your tricks depending on some user-input. I'm sure there is some level of canned animations going on here but honestly, that doesn't bother me too much. I think each individual player will be able to implement their own "style" to their trick selection. Gonna be sick! I "can" wait to play it, haha

I mean the skate games never really had a story. It was always just progressing through the game and completing the challenges, it’s not like there was really any character development or anything. I think it would be fun if there was something like that though, maybe like the Tony hawk underground games, especially 2, where you change the environment of the levels.

It's not promising. I've played it. I can't share a lot about it but it's just a free to play microtransaction shitfest and the only thing to do are challenges like own the spot in skate 3 but they just update throughout the day, it's wack as fuck, I put in about 4 hours and just completely lost all hope

It's hard for me to get on board with this free ever expanding concept, only cause the reason I was drawn to skate games in the first place was the story mode and starting from the bottom and meeting all the pros and proving yourself through challenges that you deserve to be a pro skater. If they don't have that in this game I think it'll be rather boring to be honest.

Is there a story mode or will we compete in online challenges against other people for rewards coz tbh as much as I love a story and loved seeing all the pros in skate 3 like Chris Cole etc… I’d kinda prefer going against other people it would be a lot more challenging and more true to life and more rewarding when we come 1st and win a big prize. Also the devs should do a trick of the week or trick of the month on the new in game social media thing where we can all tag them in our clips and they pick a top 10 every week and the top 3 people get the biggest rewards

The only microtransactions will strictly be for aesthetic stuff and that's it. So unless you just NEED your character to wear a special pair of nikes, you won't have to spend shit to have a good time. They just want the game to be accessible to everyone and I think that's cool

The Skate Hype has been dying on me. This is an arcade game, a minimum of animations, controls from the previous part, which are already outdated for simulating beautiful beautiful tricks. All skateboard panties will look the same plus or minus, there will be no more than 3-5 variations. You don't develop by turning to 360° turns and any other. In short, this is a shareware game where you can launch a bunch of monkeys and ride around, you don’t understand why or for what purpose. Stupid Tony hockey makes the biggest arcade. And fans were waiting for maximum cool realism with a big budget.

As computational power has gone up it has allowed us to make games that utilise higher quality physics, more in depth mechanics, bigger, more detailed worlds and more realistic character models. But all of these things for the most part still have to be hand crafted by humans. A triple-A character model circa 2010, i could knock out in a few days to a week, a triple A character model by todays standards would take me up to 2 months, maybe more if its a main character Im sure youve seen it. The gap between installments in all games is increasing and its simply because more detailed and realistic games take more time to create
