It is almost unfair how good of a track this is given what we know about the limitations of the NES's sound chip. Absolute banger.

This is one of my favorite NES songs, because of the electric guitar used by the sample channel. I right clicked on your video and checked "Loop".

I remember when my uncle bought this game for my brothers birthday we heard this intro for the first time and we sat through it and let it go through the intro and hit the reset button again so it could start over so we didnt have to see the story/character trailer playthrough after the song was over we played it 4 times before we actually started the game we thought it was the most badass music intro to a video game and it was at that time! Great memories! Hard ass game for the playthrough got to the last level but could never survive it fun as hell to play the ramp action though! A classic! First one is still better but this was a fun sequel to play the music intro alone was worth it 🙃

This game actually blew my mind back in the day in terms of what they achieved from the NES. To have voice like that alone was very new to me and still didn't sound as robotic as the Genesis "Sports Talk football". However the controls for this game was utter crap

Something is very wrong with this track. The emulator used to record this makes it sound nothing like it does on the NES.
@Davidevgen8 жыл бұрын
the emulators are always inaccurate with the audio play back on the pcm channel. fceux nes emulator is the only emulator ive found do do it right.

Oh hell no! This is just some ridiculous / fun NES music. :) There's actually some pretty interesting technical stuff going on behind it too, considering its very non-standard use of samples for the NES.

@zaphod77 Yeah, this was before I started sampling everything from hardware. I likely sampled this from 'nsfplay', which is generally pretty good, but it wouldn't surprise me if the emulation quality was a bit off. Especially for the PCM samples. :)

Technically impressive from a sample standpoint on the NES, though doesn't have a very pleasing sound. I bet this song could be better on say Genesis hardware... Surprised it was never on the Genesis since EA was a big supporter of it and it had already been out for a year or so by the time this game came out.

downphoenix EA and Sega had a falling out, which lead to EA getting banished, hence why they had to make their own cartridges.
@scottythegreat13 жыл бұрын
North American computer game developers/publishers liked the console market. The problem was that Nintendo and Sega were very strict on which games were allowed on their systems. North American companies didnt like the royalty structures that both companies set up. North American companies were told by both companies how many cartridges theyd manufacture for each game and had to pay up front. Electronic Arts and Accolade both tried finding ways to get around Sega's lockout systems (and succeeded). Epyx tried getting around it completely by designing their own console, but didnt have the money to set up the distribution network to market the (handheld) console, Atari rescued them by marketing the Atari Lynx, but Atari also sued them a handful of times for breach of contract, and eventually Epyx went bankrupt.

not sure but i guess that scratchy voice is just 1bit ,but the rock&roll music itself is 7bit,but still it sounds valsh,i think it a emulator issue,cuzz i tout it sounded better on the nes!!??. eventrough this is the only game wich atleast takes full advantage of the infemouse 7bit pcm audio capabillity. but then again the rick rolf nes pcm demo wich is 7bit is of much hicher quality!!!

I'll be honest I don't like it too much. Sampled Electric guitar (at least I assume it's an electric guitar) sounds just weird.. Honestly I find Bass samples from Sunsoft to be more appealing to the ear.
