There's a lot of comments on Skating Polly videos about channelling Kurt Cobain. I bet bands get fed up of "They sound like" comments though - I imagine it must feel quite limiting. To me, Kelli sounds more like Brian Molko than Kurt. I'm going to say that they're not the "New" anything - they are the First Skating Polly! Glad I found them - wish I'd found them sooner.
@miked43096 жыл бұрын
i think bands get tired of it...i know sadie of speedy ortiz has stated she is tired of the 90's comparisons. the thing is that sound never went away, it just wasnt played on every radio station like in the 90's. i think the kurt comparisons come from a younger kelli....like in "fuzz" videos like alabama and ugly...when she has short bleached hair and raspy screams. its too easy for casual fans to say...wow..kurt. but i get it.
@X1xone6 жыл бұрын
I am a big Placebo fan, but I don't really think Kelli sounds like Brian. The bands music might some. I think what Kelli shares with Kurt Cobain is the ability to scream melodically, so I think it is a fair comparison. Peyton has a very nice voice, but probably lacks a little of the "character" that Kelli has in her voice. Peyton looks very smooth on the drums, probably more smooth then their brother.
@miked43096 жыл бұрын

weirdplanet108 It is all opinion. Peyton, as I said has a nice voice, probably a prettier voice. In my opinion, Kelli has a great voice for a grunge/punk band.

R Moocher the old guitarist from Cky only used 4 strings on his guitar that’s the only Other example I can think of. I think most people just leave them on and not use them but but taking them off it gives you more control to strum and not worry about hitting a string you didn’t want too :)
