Magnificent! I got very excited when I saw this video. I may have seen this exact airplane a few weeks ago at Washington Dulles, arriving from Miami. The takeoff sound was impressive and the climb was so fast!

As a pilot of a similar aircraft, I hasten to inform you. It's not just new engines, it's a new plane. Despite its similarity with the IL-76TD, this machine (IL-76TD-90) has new PS-90M engines. Old Il-76's are equipped with engines D-30KP-76. The installation of new engines increased the capacity of the aircraft, its payload increased to 50 tons (IL-76NL - 40 tons). This is + 25%, a huge amount. The fuselage of the aircraft is significantly different from the old models, it has considerable strengths of the frames, cargo deck. Also, the cabin is made according to the "Glass Cockpit" principle, on old aircraft the cab is analog. These planes are only superficially similar, in fact it is a completely new machine. It is even hard to call a deep modernization, so great are the differences.

yes, the old engines were the Soloviev Model D-30KP II, those of the video are the most powerful PS-90, increased by 20 tons of load, but the sound was smooth

I will be honest, but we in Russia do not aspire to ride the front wheel on the center line. If I know that the wind is on the side, then I'll put the plane closer to the side where the wind blows. When the airplane takes off, the pressure of the wind in the keel tends to turn the plane face against the wind, why do I need the center line for take-off, if I know that the airplane will turn in one direction?

Why does it look like both the ailerons are rigged up during taxi for takeoff?

So it looks like a stuck handwheel. Outside, the ailerons go up. And in the cabin the shuttles are deployed one to the other. This is done in order to let the technician out of the ground and in the cockpit the pilots saw that the wheel was blocked. In the history of aviation in Russia there were cases when the pilots forgot to unlock the steering wheel and took off with a locked steering wheel. It was a very long time ago, but since then in Russia we have been struggling with the forgetfulness of pilots. It's impossible not to notice.

thats a direct copy from Wikipedia.....when i went back and read it its actually write....they are careful with what they say take note it says largest production cargo aircraft !!!! meaning what is being produced....the 225 only one was ever made and no one is mistaking its distinction as world largest :) !!!!

An-225 exists in a single copy, and this aircraft was conceived as a transporter of the space shuttle "Buran". So it is not a mass production machine.
