Spent quite a few off season holidays in "Skeggy" during the mis 70's, the signalmen at Skegness station box were all very friendly and would invite you in, spent many hours there, drinking their tea, a packet of chocolate digestives or gingernuts would get you a lot of privileges.

Clapper was an institution, one of the old time characters. Along with Brummie, Roy Barker, from Ingoldmels, Choo Choo, Lionel and others I'm sorry to say I've forgotten the names of. I grew up in Skeg from about 1950 until I emigrated in 2010, apart from the odd year or two, when I went looking for greener pastures but I always ended up back in Skeg or later Wainfleet!

1976? don't know about that. 1976 was the year of the long hot summer, on April 9th I was a Marshall at the special stage of the Wolds Rally that ran along the sea front, and it was tee shirt weather, I remember it well because its my birthday. So how this bloke got footage of bad weather in 76 is strange, unless he shot it in January.
