Irony, skekSil's killing of skekVar open the path for skekUng's ascension to General and to the Imperial Line of Succession and to his banishment. If the Chamberlain had kept skekVar as an ally, he could had used him in his power play until he had gone to the Throne and kept skekUng in check.

but regardless how evil SkekUng is against the other creatures, he is pretty neat with other skeksis. He didn't punish the Scientist when his podling essence didn't deliver, and he banished SkekSil to further return him to the castle. Had it been SkekSo and Skektek and the Chamberlain would have been mutilated.

SkekVar is a very interesting Skeksis. My only complaint about this show as a whole is that the counterparts of both SkekVar and SkekLach (known as UrMa the Peace Maker and UrSen the Monk) were never shown on screen, even when SkekVar and SkekLach were killed, taking their other halves with them.

a great thing about SkekVar is he was performed by Kevin Clash one of the greatest puppeteers ever also performing the face of the Hunter, Aughra, a Gruenak, and the Gelling librarian. what's your favorite character role of Kevin Clash and it doesn't just have to be The Dark Crystal.

If only we got to see urMa the peace keeper I can see his urRu voice able to calm any hostile mindset(as a counterpower to skekVar), stop a battle, and his peaceful talks extinguish the plague of hate, urMa disagreed with the Mystic Master urSu(emperors mystic) indifference, taken it that he actually ventured out to speak with the Gelfings. I know he's dead but in my mind I hear Kenneth Mars(Grandpa from land before time/King Triton from Little mermaid) be the perfect voice for urMa by his description. It really makes me miss urMa despite the only references we got is his comic design, and Brain Froud design in the Bestiary book. For he's my second favorite Mystic after urAmaj the Cook.

As an add on what if urMa forsee his own death and told urSu that the only way to stop the destruction is to take the peace with it, and thus urSu had the idea to let himself die by urMa being ok with his demise knowing that the biggest threat to gelfing at that time was skekVar, for the Mystics can see their skeksis counterparts view of the world in their sleep.

I think he was given the title “The Ambassador”, that title used to belong to SkekVar before he was the general. So I think SkekUng inherited the Ambassador title when SkekVar was promoted.

In the Legends Of The Dark Crystal comic, SkekVar attempts to steal SkekSo’s scepter when he was choking on food. SkekSo stops him replying he struck too Soon. SkekVar offers SkekSo his sword so he could be killed but SkekSo declined still valuing his usefulness. SkekVar also has an alliance with SkekSa The Mariner and SkekEer The SpyMaster.
