I mostly use tipless piping bags, but for detailed work I'd recommend investing in PME 1.5 tips and #1 tips.

How do you free hand? I can not draw to save my life and i get frustrated always having to use stencil or projector or trace 😩

Sabrina, I often use a stencils or some kind of guides when I decorate too. And I often practice on a piece of wax paper before I pipe directly on the cookie.
