You will have to hold the eyes up to the light or put a light on it for awhile to charge it up if you remember having glow in the dark toys as a kid.

This thing looks amazing! And I have the same thoughts as you: I liked the standard version better than the SE, and I'm torn with what to do with the glowing flames. They look superb, but I want to keep it "clean" too (same issue I'm having with the Dragonfly.
