Hello, Thank you Sara for giving this interview. I am thrilled to virtually meet the lady behind the art I am in love with. I adore your books on France; how you do such an amazing variety of writing styles with a brush blows my mind. I hope the inspiration you seek will spark for your next book. Xxxx💙

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been a fan of Ms. Midda’s work for 37 years, yet I didn’t know much about her.

Funny about the striped shirt - as soon as I saw it, that sketch came to mind and I thought it must’ve been worn as a sort of tribute. And ever since I got that book, half a lifetime ago, any time I see a shirt with horizontal blue stripes (I own a few, of course), I think of that page in the book and it makes my mood a little sunnier. Thank you for doing this interview with one of my absolute favorite illustrators - between Sara Midda and Maira Kalman, I have spent some of my most blissful Saturday afternoons just leafing through pages with a glass of lemonade. :) And thank you, Sara Midda, for 🎁doing something you’d never done and going on camera, online for us! 🧡💛💚😊

Dear Danny, thank you so much for posting your interview with Sara. I have absolutely loved her work and been very inspired by it . Big thank you to Sara for allowing us to see the interview. As we are on home confinement at the moment what better way to spend the time than indulging in watercolour. I am looking forward to seeing if I can order her France Book and also her Bowl of Olives book. Take good care . Janice

Thank you and Sara so much for this very special interview. When I was a child I fell in love with her books and would try to copy her beautiful pictures. The detail and miniature aspect of her work makes it feel so precious. A true gem of a book and totally inspired me to paint watercolours as a teenager. I still have her books and cherish them.

Thank you both for that interview! I have loved her work, I took a copy of her South of France A Book of Days to France 20 years ago on my first trip there, what a perfect travel companion. She is a treasure and I am so happy to have found your site. Be well.

I bought a second hand copy of "in and out of the garden" years ago in a UK bookstore whilst visiting family and loved it so much I hunted out another second hand copy on my next visit to give to a friend!! Her work is beautiful, delicate, and talks to me on so many levels.

So happy to see Sara interviewed about her work....I have been a fan since "In and Out of the Garden", and your interview answered many of the questions I have had about her method, materials, education etc. I hope she can find a focus for another project: I am all in favor of it being dogs! Delightful. Thank You!

I am just now seeing this and so excited that you were able to do such an extensive interview! Thank you to both you and Sara for taking the time and effort to do the interview. I've been a fan since her first book and was very glad to know more about Sara.I would love to know how she forms the calligraphy letters that are so tiny and perfect! I know she said she uses a brush for most, but am amazed!! I hope she is well and will find focus for what she is working on now- hopefully a new book will emerge:) Such a special and unassuming person.

also, what she said about picking up where she left off the day before. I have really noticed lately .... one bedtime project is, I have Tommy Kane's book out of the library, which I love, & I am copying a page .... for an exercise. There are so many bricks. I only have about 20 minutes in me by bed time, & only get a small chunk of wall done, but --- have noticed with such relief, when I'm finally ready to have my wind down --- "oh how wonderful, I don't have to make any decisions, I can just do that!" ---- having the WIP to turn to ... such a relief. note to self to try to reduce all those unnecessary decision/complications -- like too may tools or possible projects --- and having the WIPs to turn to is a relief, like picking up the knitting to add a row (of bricks)

I just ordered a copy of In and Out of the Garden. The 1985 version. I wanted the oldest one I could get, and I'm so excited to see it in person. It's been a while since I've ordered myself an art book, but I always seem to end up doing that when I watch one of your videos! :) I've also bought her South of France book and the Muriel Foster Fishing Diary. I probably also learned about How to Be a Wildflower through your videos? I'm getting quite a collection of art books and they are so inspiring! Thanks! :)
