I usually don't comment on stuff, but to hell with it i would really like to say this: I have struggled with depression for many years. Before the worst of it, i was passionate about learning to draw and improving. I would spend hour after hour sketching and detailing other artist's work and technique, but as time worse on i watched my motivation and passion slip through my fingers due to my mental illness. It really hurt to feel nothing about what had once been my whole world. As i watched this, i only got about a third of the way through before i was on the verge of tears. I could feel it again, that welling urge in my stomach to grab paper and try to mimic your lines, to learn everything i could. It was small, but it was something. These may be sketches to you, but they were a time machine for me. Thank you. Keep up the good work! You are an incredible artist. :)

Lavinia sorry to hear that I looked up your channel and I cant find the disccusion button abled, to leave you a message.. I hope you are fine.. I know some few poeple who have had that stage, and the cure is temperory ... a new hobby, a visit to pschologist etc... etc etc.. It is about praying to God? if you doubt his existence.. pray the skeptic prayer ""God if you are there show me the way and make me content amen.." of cours to God not to jesus, buddah .. to Almighty... you will be surprise. Do it for few day, the only condition is to be sinicere.. not just for your benefit.. "Only in God rememberance do hearts find peace.." Quran. Only there, other solutions are short fix, and temperory and the stress and depression come again... believe me that is the short cut... you will feel peace.. He is full of mercy he will answer, also because he is just, so you have no excuse when you meet him that you prayed and he did not answer.. the way he answers could be very subtle yet powerful , yet clear, in your heart, it maby also through a clear dream (vision), or make you acquire knoweldge that assure you that you are not alone, that life has purpose, that injustice won't be forgotten,. Just be sincere that you want to follow his path, iand n that you will find peace, by God I feel that peace and my heart rest, every day and I sleep like a baby though I am not a best of Man in the world, But know that God, whom they made unfashionable in the new age, is always there.. May you find peace and happyness , love. I could not find other way to contact you.. try it before judging it. His way of answering, is subtle, clear, beautiful, and above all full of peace that will put your priority in this temperorary life in prespective. May you find peace and happyness , love.

Lavinia Greer Keep on drawing and creating! Mental illness is a condition, but your spirit to create is still innate inside of you! It is a part of you. Even if you find yourself going wayward, don't pay any mind, focus on your goal.

Persnickety hobbys, like drawings, is very therapautic and help us to meditate, I notice the best way of handling any hobby, is to do it without being obssisive. Say for example, an hour or 2, this way you look forward to do it every day.. and you want burn the flame.. this work even with people we love... time for them, time for yourself, and time for your spirituality if you are spiritual. balance is key and we all come to realize that importance of moderation sooner or later. That is why you see all people mature to that level, of course some they become that because they lost the passion in new thing, but smart one too act like them, but out of understanding that balance and moderation in everything helps us to keep going, instead of 8 hours a day drawing.. then it becomes work, ask inktober doers most get sick of it. But to me which I meditate a lot about life and tried many things, realize after exhusting all entertainment venue, mainly knowledge and new subjects, I realize that going toward God sustain my well being in a very clear yet subtle way the closer I get the more warmth i feel. I draw too but when ever I feel to, usually 20 min seting, 2 or 3 times a day.. in different part of the day.. it is much more fun this way. give the feeling of precious time and efemerous feeling so you look for it .. nice day.

For those who are inevitably going to ask: There are a couple reasons I sharpen my 10B pencils with a knife. 1) My pencil sharpener isn't great and always breaks the lead since it's so soft. 2) Sharpening with a knife is more comfortable for me when I'm drawing since I control what shape I want the tip to be in. I didn't end up using the pencil in this video, but I thought it'd be interesting to show at least! :-)
@GutzNRibz6 жыл бұрын
Do you know what type/name of the knife you are using is? Is just that i really like the shape of it and i would like to see if i could find it or maybe make it in the future

Try an EBONY pencil - the graphite is super dark and smooth, probably around 10B. We used them all the time in collage when we wanted as black as graphite, but smoother and less messy.

Seeing you work is so refreshing for me! (to me? :P) It's nice to see how other artists sketch, especially when they're style is so different from mine. I can see how much thinking goes on before you put your pencil to paper to make a mark, how you make a decition and roll with it. It makes the picture look really fresh and clean, love that! Hope to see more vids like that in the future to learn more, keep it up!

Pear, it’s 4 in the morning here and I just wanted to say thank you. Your art is so beautiful and inspiring and always makes me want to draw more and improve myself. As for why it being 4 am is important at all, I just woke up from a particularly vivid nightmare and needed a way to take my mind off of it. Thankfully I waited to watch this video! (I usually watch your videos while I’m doing art of my own because they relax me?? I guess) So anyways, thank you for being such a cool inspiration and for being so gosh darn chill. It really helps me calm down😂😂

First off your art style is beautiful and incredibly unique, I am envious of the fact that all of your faces look different, I have trouble with same face syndrome. All of your illustrations are so unique and detailed. That fact that all of your faces look different makes it so much more realistic and beautiful, shows the true uniqueness of the human form.

For a long time now I've had no inspiration to continue with my own art, I've struggled for months that turned into years.
