I absolutely love your work! I swear I am NEVER going to get past my beginner's learning stage because videos like this have me trapped watching instead of doing! Does anybody else have that problem? I have way past filled my phone with screenshots of things I want to try but they just sit there and rarely even get looked at again let alone come to formation! I am following a workbook for pen and ink drawing that I TRY to work in every day, even just a small bit. And I am so glad to know that most artists have several sketchbooks going at once. I have no idea when one of them will get finished. I'm just over a year in and I finished a very very fat art dot journal like 6 months ago that was a mixture of everything under the sun, which is what I started with. I find those so much easier to fly right through and fill up and then way over stuff them. I always have one of them going but I have been trying to keep my hands off of the newer one because I need to spend my time working on drawing and painting and learning through tutorials or drawing tons of hands or eyes or whatever, which I love. So between several sizes of sketchbooks and different paper, watercolor sketchbooks of several sizes (a zig zag one as small as the palm of my hand I'm wondering what to do with! Drawing small is super hard for me, staying within the border is super hard....new world problems right?) My mom is moving from her house of 30 years to a retirement community cottage and it's a REALLY difficult time for me but very exciting yet sad for my mom. So I did my second full watercolor of a doorway you did with turquoise doors and two potted plants to the viewer's left and old brick around it with big stones around the bricks. It turned out SO well! I used my Derwent Inktense pencils but put them on the brush, not the paper. I am really excited to finish up the line work so she can hang it in her new home as a symbol of closing one door and going through another to her next chapter that I hope is long and more wonderthan she could have imagined! So thank you for your thorough teaching in your tutorial videos! She will absolutely LOVE my gift.

Hi Six!! Thanks so much! Yeh it can be hard with so so much content to watch, and falling into a bit of a youtube hole. I think thats in my particular case I found sketching while travelling was super helpful for me when I was in the first couple of years. As I was by myself it was easy to find the time and I rarely had a decent internet connection so couldn't get stuck in a youtube hole of just watching and not doing. It is so easy to become overwhelmed too. I think something useful is to set projects or themes to focus on. Pick one style/medium and stick with it. When I was learning I was bouncing between all kinds of mediums and styles, everything from graffiti (on canvas) with spray cans through to dainty watercolours, through to Procreate on an ipad and everything in between. I eventually settled my focus on to sketching in ink and watercolour as it was a natural fit for my desire to travel too. Keep it exploring but yes try and get yourself sat in front of a sketchbook more than in front of youtube...and just label everything as an experiment so you can take the pressure off. I am glad you had a go at the door and that it came out well! Sounds like a perfect gift for your Mom :)

Moleskine, the brand, is from Italy. The books are mostly made in china and larger items in turkey. The watercolorpaper is made in france. Now moleskine is owned by a french and belgium compagnie. The size is just weird... Love the video! Tfs!!! Xxx

Really appreciate your reviews of various watercolors, I recently purchased the Daniel Smith primary essentials kit. Making mini pallets for a couple of granddaughters who are arty. Is that a word? You know what I mean. Also one for myself of course. Small, but enough paint for A5 , A6 sketch books. Recommended they check out your channel and Teoh's, too many to list.
