Until now I ignored completely the “Save as a copy” and did the versioning externally. Now I know, I can do in a more simple way. Thanks, Aaron!

You can never have too many backups, but you can definitely have one too few. I learned that when doing PC Support and watching entire departments lose everything without any backups. Anyway, one little thing SU doesn’t do is remember where you saved your last project. Usually when you save a file apps take you to the last directory where you saved a project. The same when you do an Open. SU goes to wherever it says in the Preferences setting. I know I’m being somewhat nit-picky but we’re on the topic of Saving. By the way, that little ~ character is called a tilde. Thanks for another great video.

I haven't used Revert and Save As Copy. I can see using them in the future. Each video gives us tips to make the design process easier and more efficient. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the Square One videos. I continue to learn even after using SketchUp for more than 10yrs. I have a question, how does the auto-save affect the revert?

Naming Copies or Versions: The Police, Military, & others impose a date format that is very useful. I always set my computer to YYYY-MM-DD format. I also use this format for naming files. The reason being is that it automatically sorts in chronological order when sorted alphabetically. If you need more than a day's resolution, adding military or 24 hour time to the end of the file name gives you resolution down to the minute. For example "FileName-2021-01-14-1315" tells you that a copy of the file was saved on January 14th at 1:15 PM. A series of copy saves named this way will sort chronologically in your computer's alphabetically sorted file directory. Sorting a file directory in reverse alphabetical order also automatically sorts in reverse chronological order. If you are sharing copies of files with people, you can always tell how old the version they have is, & if they have the most current version.

In Previous versions (as shown in this video), if you went to FILE> REVERT... a warning popped up asking if you want to go back to the most recently saved version of the file... and you would have to confirm the Revert. In SketchUp 2023 that confirmation is gone????? It just Reverts and you cannot undo that command !!!! I just want to know if that is how '23 is designed or is this a Bug? Obviously its an issue that should be rethought for version 2024.
