Reminds me of a series of events that I went through with my kids. Put them on a plastic sled, pulled them over the snow to a hill 40 yards out my back yard. Youngest, the 4-year-old lost his mitten along the way. I let both kids sit on the sled while I walked 20 yards back through the woods to find the mitten. Come back to find my 8-year-old daughter had stepped into a muskrat path and lost her boot. Her foot was soaking wet. I reached my hand down under the ice and snow and fished the boot out. Put it on her foot. Pulled the two of them up a brushy hill. Got them lined up to slide down the hill together on the plastic sled. Gave them a push, and for some reason, they leaned, and veered off the hill right into a patch of thorn bushes. I pulled the kids home on the sled, crying and a bit scratched up and just a little bloody from the thorn bush incident. I pulled them up to the front door, opened it, and my wife had heard the crying, came to the front door, took one look at the kids and said, “What the hell did you do?” I just hung my head, shaking it as I walked away.
