I live in the town the 2 boys went missing. The winds were 25+ that day and the Thermalito afterbay is deceptively dangerous in the wind. It doesn't freeze here. So the water was very violent in the wind and very cold. Look at the winds BEFORE taking your boat out. Kayak or boat. That much wind is about enough to topple most duck boats on that waterway.
