Thanks John! This is by far the best skew sharpening video I've seen. I'm a new turner, having only one, oval skew. I've had considerable trouble getting both the included angle fixed (it came ground 25 deg) and preventing it from rocking when sharpening. I'm on my way to the shop to make an oval skew jig for my oneway system.

Great video... Funny I found this just after I reground a scraper into a skew 1". I used the one-way skew big and just as you said, the heel of the skew is about 45 deg and the toe is the 40 deg I wanrmted (based on Allan Batty's suggestion)

How did you find the 40 degree bevel? How did you know at what angle to set up your platform relative to your wheel?

One question. A lot of wood turners make a point of saying the grind for the skew should be absolutely flat as opposed to hollow ground as you show. Obviously this is very hard to do on a grinder. Would you comment on this? Is this why you finish the sharpening on the stone? Still looking for the best way to get that skew at its best! Thanks
