Is March a good time to go?

Might be the best time. They close mid April and snow then was still great.

I am really thinking of booking a last min deal for a week from 30th March, but worried there might be no snow. Which do you think is best bet for snow this late in the season, borovets or Bankso?

It was about time. Are they putting artificial snowmaking on all slopes?

Pamporovo is a 'smaller resort situated lower in altitude tha Bansko and Borovets. If you want high alipne terrain Bansko or Borovets are the places to go. Having said that Bansko is a nightmare with hours of long queues in the morning and it lasts to up over midday. Wonderful terrain with rather new lifts though. If you can avoid the Russian New Year season. I've been there a couple of times at absolutely superb hotels near the lift (Regnum). The food in the terrain is very expensive and absolutely horrible exept for one small place 'Pechterite' 2/3 down the route one towards the valley. If it wasn't for the enormous queues I would be back again one day. I have been to Pamporovo some years back, but not in Borovets. I here from others that it is goof value for the money.

Great video bro. I’m looking to do a snowboarding season this / next year. Where would you set your base? I’d value quality of piste and quietness of slope over money as they all seem to reasonably priced. Saying that nothing empty, I’d like to make friends with the Bulgarians and any fellow seasonaires to build a friendship base there too. Thanks 🙏🏼

Sounds like you want Bansko. It’ll be crowded, but that’s the only downside. If you can go February that crowd will be a bit quieter. I never went but the locals consider Пампорово to be the best/quietest in the country. Not sure what living/infastructure is like though nor the best way to get to it. maps.app.goo.gl/x33od5S3yRVqGhRB6?g_st=ic

Idk, I’d check mountain cams and when the mountain closes.

Bulgaria is fantastic for skiing and incredibly affordable. I've experienced both firsthand! There are plenty of great half-board deals from the UK and Ireland. You can get a week in a 4-star hotel, including a lift pass, ski hire, transfers, and half board, all for as little as £999. I have done Austria and paid x3 times this, and it was not worth it, you can live like a king with £60 - 80 a day spending money in Bulgaria, in Austria that will get you 3-4 beers lol.

Where in vulgaria is best place for beginner skiiing? And is February a good time to visit? Thank you

All of them. They all have bunny slopes to learn on. They all have easy slopes, but the easy slopes at Borovets are too crowded. If you need a teacher I don’t know if mt. Vitosha would have someone.

Vitosha is not that intermediate - there are slopes on Stenata/The wall, which are very steep - 3 reds and one black, which is extremely steep. Also there is a slope under Vitoshko lale 2 chair lift - This slope is never groomed and its black.

These aren't the only mountains and ski resorts in Bulgaria. You missed the main one which also gave the name to the whole peninsula - the Balkan mountain range (known better as Stara Planina) and the Rhodopes which is the most picturesque of them all. Pamporovo which is located in the Rhodopes is the second largest ski resort in the country after Bansko, Borovets comes third. Vitosha is mostly popular for locals and is more of a neighbourhood of the capital rather than it's own place. Vitosha is part of the city proper not a separate area. Both Bansko and Pamporovo are the highest and largest ski resorts in the Balkan peninsula in general. As I mentioned above the Balkans got their name from the mountain range in Bulgaria. The tallest mountain in the peninsula and Southeastern Europe and also the 6th highest mountain range in Europe in general is the Rila mountain - the tallest peak "Musala" is taller than Mt.Olympus for example. So your information is kind of misleading there are far more than just 3 mountains and ski resorts in Bulgaria. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mountains_in_Bulgaria

I don’t know anywhere in the northern hemisphere in which January is ever a bad time to ski. Late January/February are prime months everywhere.
