1 heat of 8 athletes in a 20-minute jam session, with approximately 5 runs per athlete. Riders are ranked 1-8 based on overall impression. Judges will rank competitors throughout the contest.

They need to award creative tricks like Henrik's first two and like they did in the snowboard knuckle hucks even if they are less clean and less rotations. Leave room for them to get creative. Instead, Henrik's score went up when he went back to the same old boring stuff and landed clean. We want to see the risky unique things we've never seen before.

comp judges value spins above everything. doesn't matter if you're flailing around and barely land you just gotta go for some dumb big spin and they give you more points than the guy who spins less but lands it perfect

I think they could have the traditional format of pro judged 1st place, and then a secondary "fan voted" honor place to acknowledge the creativity and attempt to reinvent skiing as we know it. Henrik was definitely on fire in that regard, all his sessions were unique and not repeated by anyone else, and he even brought the style with confidence on his feet, rarely slipped up.

X-games tried that for snowboard big air back in the day. Problem was that people were voting for their favorite before people had even dropped in. Some foreign small country rider got robbed due to going head to head against an American.

@@odyrli00 If fan voting truly would be so corrupt (which I kinda doubt since the main first place is still judge voted), it could also be altered in a way where it's the riders themselves who vote amongst each other for the sickest and most creative run - which gets a special podium - or it could be a mix of rider, judge, and fan votes all combined.

Henrik embodied everything this competition was portrayed to be by the announcers. He showed an immense amount of style and creativity in the first two runs and then showed off the skill with the 1080 towards the end. Can’t get my head around him not taking this one...

I agree that 1st place winner should be judged professionally, but I do believe it would be cool to see additions like "fan favorite" where the fans can vote for the skier with the most original creativity and flow, to inspire the guys to keep pushing the idea of what park skiing can be. Henrik was out there on fire, throwing down sessions never seen before and it was obvious he got the crowd fired up like no other. We saw a lot of creativity this time, but that could partly be due to the fact that it was the first time for this event, and the skiers didn't have any expectations so they just gave it their best. But in the future, if the even keeps getting judged just by who goes biggest and spins the most, then the creativity could suffer over time. Just a viewer input :) The event was dope all combined, great to see this mix of guys with different styles in the same event!
