For those who are asking how to stop the fixie you need a strap you put on the pedal left and right then your dominant foot is the one you pull up and then the one you don't kick or pedal

​@@Ym-1-Umyour both dumbasses he means when your breaks are locked up and sliding. In this case you have to have hydrologic breaks to keep it skidding while simultaneously pumping the breaks

Doing this on race bike tires would sketch me out. I doubt they would pop from a couple skids I’m sure they’re stronger than that but just the way they look so thin makes me think it’s like a inner tube and just a couple millimeters of tire around it 😂 them road bikes are fast though. Really fast. I used to have a vintage Pepsi bike blue with a Pepsi logo it must have been from the 90s or something but it had gears and that thing hauled. I could get anywhere in town in minutes

I've heard long-time fixed gear riders say: Putting your weight on the handlebars is poor skid technique because easier to initiate, less control onwards. The less weight on back wheel, means less friction, less breaking power, so longer skids. That can be a goal in itself, but efficient fixed gear touring is the opposite direction

You can't stop it if the tire is locked it will keep sliding I almost hit someone as well. Going 40mph downhill a group of girls were walking down a steep ass hill with a turn and right as they appeared they split up all over and after sliding 20 ft I finally gripped literally just enough to swerve out the way. Cars and bikes with no abs you'll need to pump the brakes. You'll get better with repatition.

You’re using foot straps… do you lift your left foot up to skid? I’ve never had foot straps and I’ve always been able to skid longer and at higher speeds than all my friends. No clip shoes either.

It can definitely stop you, it’s all about technique. I’d say lean back hard when skidding if you needs stop fast down a hill…or you can just slowly pedal down hill too

carbon wheel would be dangerous. Because thermal deformation may occur. So If you wanna do downhill, use brakes and setting free gear.

Hey man! I use 49 , 17 I would try changing your cog first to a 17! If that is still to much try a 44 t chainring!

You have to find a super super wet area, or some gravel/ sand! That’s where I learned. Make sure your tries are aired up all the way!
