The best day at The Wedge in years, and ‪@BarrelKilla‬ is there! Straight off of a flight from Hawaii, Mason had a very lucky layover in Orange County where he scored a bunch of good waves at The Wedge. Blair Conklin and the many other skimboarders were having a hay day as the waves were super easy to run in to from the beach.

Blair carries so much more speed that everyone else. He just lightly glides across the surface, while everyone else is pumping hard to make the connection. Blair gets a real fast start and then he has the special touch to keep and generate speed. No one can make the connection as effortlessly as Blair. Thumbs up on his skill level on a skim board.

Born in Dec '52, grew up in Mill Valley CA. My sister and I skimmed, boogied and surfed. I remember the beaches before they became packed. Favorite was putting on fins and swimming over the falls (offshore!) in big storm surf. Lived on beautiful lake in Tennessee past 25 years, been slalom skiing. It's like riding a toothpick at 60-65 mph crossing behind the towboat moving at 36. I'm headed back home soon, hope to meet Blair and friends, maybe give 'em a few laughs watching the crazy long white bearded old guy getting back on the stick and pummeled in the surf - loving every minute. Cowabunga, dudes, surf's up!

That encompased the best of everything that surfing gives one in life. Right from the parking, down to the beauty of getting that weird ass wave no matter where you were. That wave that came out of nowhere, you paddled into it, and made it, did some funk ass manuver and pulled it. The sun was shining. Life was perfect at that moment. "There's gonna be water in my nose for quite some time". Thanks for filming this Skid Kids.
